Just done an analysis of players missing from county sides due to England calls. Derby,Leics,Northants and Gloucester have none. Somerset 3 ,Leach,Bracey and Overton, Middlesex have just Morgan, Notts have Broad, Lancs have Butler,Anderson and Livingstone, Yorks have Bairstow, Root and Rashid, Warks have Woakes,Durham have Stokes, Sussex have Archer, Garton and Jordan, Essex just Lawrence and Worcs have Ali! Whereas Surrey have Burns, TC, SC, Foakes and Roy! No other side have as many as 6 ! The most any other County has is 3!! How did we win the CC in 2018?? The reason for our success was down largely to two excellent overseas in Morkel and Amla who were both available for the whole season. The only consolation with this situation is the we can spend more on our overseas players because the ECB pay for much of the England players salaries, which enable us to spend more on overseas. Producing England players seems to be an incredible burden on the county!!
