Daphne-RIP
Some sad news, many people will remember Daphne who used to stand outside the members pavilion and help selling scorecards. Always had a bag of sweets as well. Nick, one of the stewards advised on Sunday that she has sadly passed away last week. Thoughts are that she was somewhere around 94 years of age.
RIP Daphne, one of the old guard

Sad news indeed. A lovely welcoming lady who was always a perfect ambassador for our Club.
I hope the Club provide the tribute she merits.

A wonderful friendly face to greet the members. And you got a proper card scorecard as well! Sadly missed.

I heard some - but not all (since it was a bit noisy locally) - of this. There were references to Daphne giving out sweets and hugs and also being a favourite of staff members at Oval tube.RB wrote:Daphne was given an obituary over the PA at tea today.

Re: Daphne-RIP
Good innings, but still very sad news. To me for so lomg she was an integral part of my Oval experience, part of making me feel back at home in my 'happy place'.
Sadly could hear very little of the day 2 tribute as the PA was its often poor self over in the Peter May Garden

Lovely tribute from the club last week at the tea interval. Maybe the club could mark things by a small plaque outside the members pavilion-thoughts?
