England seem to want one genuine quick in the team. Wood is currently the man in possession, but is 33 and injury prone.Joffra Archer and Ollie Stone may or may not ever be fit again. Then there is Josh Tongue, who may be the next big thing or may turn out to be a one-game wonder.
So Jamie Overton has to rely on a few things going his way before he gets another sniff. His batting helps, of course, but he won't be selected on that any more than Sam Curran will now.

....and Gus Atkinson. Taking wickets at 20 apiece this year. Clocked at 92 mph the other week. Useful high action.

I was going to say that Gus currently looks quicker than Overton.

Get rid of the part-timers and pay the likes of Gus and Tom Lawes enough to commit to saying that they will only play for Surrey?

Gus has already had his head turned by the UAE. Lawes won’t be leaving any time soon unless his T20 form improves!

However, even if we didn’t have the salary cap, there is no way we could compete with the money on offer from the franchise leagues.

I think will JO will eventually make a England Squad again.Sam Curran is a worry Regarding Test Selection. Looks to be getting Labelled a One Day Player.
