Sussex (A) (Friendly) - 25-26 Mar
We’re playing today - not that Surrey appear to have noticed on their website or social medias.
I can’t make the trip this year. But apparently it’ll be glorified nets, batting for 60 overs each in rotation.

Surrey squad:
Rory Burns (captain), Jordan Clark, Matt Dunn, Ben Geddes, Tom Lawes, Conor McKerr, Jamie Overton, Ryan Patel, Dom Sibley, Jamie Smith, Cam Steel, Dan Worrall.
Josh Blake will be available on Tuesday.
Sussex squad:
Alsop, Carson, Carter, Clark, Coles, Crocombe, Haines, Hudson-Prentice, Hunt, Karvelas, Lamb, Simpson (c)
The toss was uncontested and an agreement between the two clubs will see Surrey batting first.
---
No Virdi then, so presumably Steel is our first choice spinner until Jacks is available again (probably for a week in September)
---
Looking at Sussex social media, they've just got back from pre-season tour to India, and they are reporting Jofra Archer went out there with the squad and is full fit and ready to play (thought not today against Surrey) Good for England, and good for Surrey if we have Gus Atkinson available.

Well if he didn’t have bad luck he’d have no luck at all. Wide half volley that deserved to be put in Palmeira Avenue for at least 4 and he somehow nicked it.

I'm not sure it was that wide
I get this is all cobweb stuff anyway, but Patel's wicket was also pretty ugly

120-5 off 29 overs at lunch, Jamie Smith top scorer so far 51/off 45 balls.
Steel 6, and Overton 4 the batsman in.
Ben Geddes yet to bat, along with Lawes, Worrall and McKerr.

Surrey declared 221-7 off 49.2 Overs, Overton top scored with 70. Geddes didn't bat.
Sussex - 60-1 off 20 Overs, Worrall with the wicket
scorecard
for what was a glorious sunny day at the start, bad light stopped play.
----
Day 2:
Neat little catch by Jamie Smith for first wicket of day to Cameron Steel.
12th man Dunn currently bowling at other end with 13th man Josh Blake keeping wicket
Sussex 139-2 off 44 Overs - have to retire in 16 overs and then hopefully we see Geddes get a bat!
When Surrey get to bat there will be 50 Overs left to play in the day.

Was there no play after lunch? Ben Geddes had a fruitfully two days!
Seems we got petty much sweet FA out of this, other than lots of our bowlers getting a few overs under their belts.

Early Days wait to see how we perform on those Green pitches back at HQ.By the way Alec’s interview on Sky. Giving massive Raps to Tom Lawes pretty unusual I would say for Stewie to be that praiseworthy for a Surrey player also Reckons he is
also a potential number 6/7 batter.Looks like we have another Fantastic Young playing Player coming through the Pathway.

RE: Friendly at The Oval
Weather shocking for next 2 days, Thursday looks like rain all day 80% chance of rain from 11 to 2pm and then it drops to 62%, 51% in the later afternoon ( BBC Weather ) Friday looks rain affected but hopefully not a total washout
