I’ve now got myself access to the professional edition of the DLS method. Quite why different versions exist I don’t know. But anyhow…
After Guildford I thought I’d have a look at my club game I played in yesterday.
40 over match. Rain stopped play 111-7 (18). Match reduced to 35 overs. Eventually the team was bowled out for 199.
Now, DLS was not in operation, but I’ll make this a bit of a quiz - what would the revised target have been from 35 overs? Have a guess.
…
Nope. You’re wrong. 188.

Does anyone understand why DLS revised down the target Notts had to chase at Guildford, when all logic dictated that it should have been revised upwards (even allowing for a slightly reduced power play)?

Re: Duckworth Lewis Stern
Correct. With 0 wickets down at the rain break, other things being equal Notts would have needed 317.
