Scott Boland
Several English counties chasing Scott Boland. You’d hope Surrey are one of them surely? https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/cricket/the-ashes-202122-ben-stokes-survives-one-of-the-strangest-nonwickets-of-all-time-at-the-scg/news-story/0fe30cf9592812e324846e68b86f6eda

Re: Scott Boland
Do we really want a 32 year old trundler who was only brought into the Aussie test team because others were injured?
Yes, he did very well and his figures were excellent but it was against a VERY poor batting lineup and nobody had seen him before.
It reminds me a little of Patel's 6-5 at Guildford.
I'd rather find a 23-27 year old on the way up than another journeyman.

Re: Scott Boland
Reminds me a lot of Vernon Philander; no real pace, but hits the same line and length time and time again. Expect he'd do OK over here.
I'd argue the important positions that need filling are an opener and all-rounder to fill the boots of Stoneman/Clarke. That is, of course, unless they're banking on Ryan Patel full time

14 wickets at a shade over 8 each in a Test is hardly a medium pace trundler, even against our lot. Superb accuracy. Sign him up, he's better than anything we've got at present.

McDermott (from the Big Bash) looks a good 'un.Mind you so does Hilton Cartwright in that league.

I'd also have an eye on the international schedule, and of course the IPL.
You would have to look carefully at someone who isn't involved in the international picture, but equally would be an asset to our team. Kane Williamson for the first 6 or 7 games before he links up with the NZ tour of England, then replaced by someone like Rassie Van Der Dussen unless he gets picked in the SA T20 side?
