Middlsex (A) friendly
Fantastic start as we find ourselves 11/2 with Burns and Smith gone....
Are we serious about opening with Smith? Not sure why it's come about as he's perfect for 4-5

Multiple cameras at an outground for a friendly! Downside is that there is a commentary from Kevin Hand. I don't think Church and Barran are involved though.
I think Middlesex have asked for green wickets for pre-season friendlies in the expectation that Lord's wickets will be like that again this year, though I think they are hoping for something better. So I wouldn't worry too much about the score.

Should we worry about the score now ? I know they're only warm up games but we've been distinctly second best in both of them so far ....

I see Jade has taken up a role as bowling consultant at Middx. County rivalries aside, good luck to him - I think he’ll make an excellent coach.

I didn't see that one coming. Has he been involved in coaching at Surrey in the last couple of years?

Well, if he has, he ain't improved anybody om this display.
I foresee a season of struggle with both bat and ball.

Not officially - but the younger players have always spoken highly of him and he seems to be a good communicator. I assume he has some coaching qualifications too!

I foresee a season of fans on here overreacting to every session, good or bad.

To be honest, we should be in Div2 given our performances in 2020 and 2021.
The worst thing about these “games” with zero competitive element is that the scorers’ job is almost redundant and all you get out of it is concerns and worries.

It was weird to see Middlesex "declaring" 16 runs (or whatever) short.
If there is a worry for Surrey it would be that six seamers took zero wickets but then only one was taken by a seamer after the first session of the match so I wouldn't worry too much. I did wonder where Virdi and Moriarty were (is Moriarty playing elsewhere right now?). I know it was a Middlesex-focused feed but in the bits I viewed the Middlesex staff were very visible around the ground and the Surrey staff were not. They must have been there, surely?

Is that to keep supporters out or to stop them escaping once in?
