Worst current county cricketers
Who do we think is the worst current county cricket to have played a meaningful amount of first class matches?
A couple I noticed recently:
Andrew Salter (Glamorgan)
71 FC matches
Batting Average 22.72 (currently opening the batting!)
Bowling Average 45.90 (111 wickets)
Josh Cobb (Northants)
128 FC matches
Batting Average 26.31
Bowling Average 90.11 (18 wickets)
Any other suggestions?

Re: Worst current county cricketers
Some players almost get in the team on their fielding alone. Jim Foat played about 90 matches for Gloucestershire. He averaged 18 with the bat but it was reckoned you could at least double that from his efforts in the field. In his last year or two Ollie Rayner's main discipline was slip catching.
Economy rate might be a factor. 2-80 in 35 overs might be just what the team needs from a spinner sometimes.
Cobb is a white ball specialist and I'm a bit surprised that he has played so many first class matches. Tom Smith at Glos is another example. Both are at counties which (how can I put this nicely?) may traditionally have struggled for better first class quality than them at times. Salter is an oddity and the Glamorgan commentators are mystified that he is being asked to open. He barely bowled against Middlesex though to be fair most of their team can bowl. Talking of which, Mark Stoneman is bowling (filth claiming to be off spin) a bit for Middlesex and actually took a wicket the other day. Is that one more than Matt Pillans ever managed for Surrey?

Re: Worst current county cricketers
It got me thinking about candidates for the worst Surrey players we can recall. I think there needs to be a minimum qualification of, say, 10 matches to verify their consistent awfulness. We had some shockers in the late 70s...Ray Baker? Andy Mack? Duncan Pauline? And again in the early 90s. Paul Atkins? Someone called Ligertwood? I'm sure there were worse than those who my memory has blotted out!
ps I've just checked out Baker's career bowling average and it was a respectable 28, which greatly surprised me. He never got any wickets when I watched him!

Verrinder, MacIntosh, the Aussie overseas bowler who got banned for running on the pitch at Lords then went home with an injury, all before the end of May.Lonsdale Skinner was a terrible wicket keeper but a reasonable bat so not too bad. Ray Baker was promising till injury forced him out.
