Re: Northants away
Hopefully this brings about a reverse jinx but TC has looked the least threatening of the bowlers so far.

Re: Northants away
Do we really need to hear for over after over about a ladies 50 over game? It's bad enough with the insufferable Church repeating every name in full 4 times per sentence.
Tom Lawes in on x 6.

How much easier to score runs than bowl on this pitch? So why did we put them in??

A deadish pitch. We are not looking dangerous. Watching on YouTube and thinking how much better a side we could have put out with Pope, Jacks, Foakes, S Curran and Topley available. I accept Overton as an act of the cricket gods. The absences devalue the competition. I don't see how Curran gets in ahead of Lawes.

Re: Northants away
Tom Curran's last first class wicket for Surrey was Alastair Cook in April 2019 as far as i can see.

Great fan of TC,but on current form it’s hard to see how he can be preferred to Tom Lawes

Re: Northants away
This wicket was always going to be flat. There’s only been 1 result in 5 home matches for Northants this season and they’ve also got no impetus whatsoever to prepare a wicket that gives assistance to the bowlers. I’ve no doubt they’d have batted first if they won the toss. It’s not rocket science. This has taken 3 mins research. We should have been dictating the game with the bat when given the chance.

Re: Northants away
We have only been in this game when we took 3-17,in a short period this afternoon.
Winning the toss and inserting in hindsight looks the wrong decision .Apart from a couple of difficult chances Northants have been in total control Gay an excellent innings. Probably more questions about team selection. Probably also an advantage for Northants that they played last week.

Can’t afford many more days like this if we want to win the CC. Out fielding was terrible as well. Perhaps the out field was uneven, but no excuse for poor technique.

I see Ben Curran is being released by Northants at the end of the season. Wonder if he’ll find another county?

Apparently there's not been a positive result in a Championship game at Northampton this year.

Re: Northants away
Flat pitch plus a totally undercooked rusty side. Actually not all their fault considering this is the first 4 day game in 6 weeks. God the ECB have really f****d up the Championship with their wretched 100. All the momentum has been lost. Lawes has hamstring problems but should be fit next week. But Curran, dear me, talk about a man whose career has dropped down the toilet. But a shadow of his former self. And yes even I think we should have played Moriaty on a flat wicket in this game (sorry not Virdi). Long way to go but a draw seems most likely at the moment. It's beginning to slip away unless Sibley can thowart Hants with 150, because they will steamroller Kent at the bowl.

Re: Northants away
According to cricinfo we showed an interest in signing Emilio Gay for next season before he decided to stay put so he could then add his name to the long list of players who have a career best against Surrey.

There’s been one. They lost at home to Lancs.

I think we might need another magic spell from Kemar this morning. Anything under 350 and we should be able to still push for a win.

Bat once, bat long but quickly, and take it to them on the last day.

Not sure about that decision. Pitched outside and going over for me.

Think that awful shot from Patel justifies bringing back Sibley
