Morning RB - fair enough to include Moriarty and Steel then but do we still need 5 front line seamers plus Patel? You seem surprisingly relaxed about that!

I have to say that teh line up does look a batsman light, and as such I am surprised that Geddes isnt in for 1 of the bowlers

Plenty of depth in the batting, but expecting Smith to keep wicket (in the first innings) and bat at 4 is sub-optimal. Steel at 5 seems a place too high, as does Tom C at 6 ( I haven't forgotten Northampton, but one swallow and all that!).
Delighted to see Moriarty selected, just a shame that Parkinson will get to bowl last.

Yes I do think we’re a batter light, unless Tom is considered a better bat than Geddes?

I presume because this is on Sky there is no live stream? No links up on You Tube or Oval site.

I love Jamie O, but bloody hell for a big strong man he is fragile!

Overton’s back appears to have gone in his first over. Not good.

This pitch is the shape of things to come for next year when we play away. Zero lateral movement for the seamers and a worn pitch. The 4/5 seamers approach won’t work on wickets like this!!!

Well, looks as though Jamie’s back has loosened up.

Yes, it's a different type of wicket than those we've prepared at home. But Moriarty has bowled beautifully at the Lancashire top-order. A good specialist spinner gives you threat and/or control over long periods.

There have been a few too many loose balls which we have got away with with the field placings but yes he had been excellent at tieing an end down and the two wickets are a bonus.
See, we should always play 2 spinners at a minimum…

I find myself conflicted, because the results this year speak for themselves and both Batty and Stewart have backed Jacks unequivically
But he's too good to just be carrying the drinks and playing some T20s for 4/6 weeks of the year...

Surely this would have been decided on while it was still expected that Surrey would be needing points?
