Luke Wright seems a strange alternative?

We’re living in a world where Rob Key is a successful MD of English cricket. It’s not as strange as that.

Or as strange as a bowler with 9 first-class wickets being called into a Test squad?

Strange how Stewart’s name keeps being leaked in connection with England roles and then, later, it is leaked that he has ‘withdrawn’ - presumably just after learning that he is not getting the job.

Re: Stewart declines England job
I wonder if it is the other way round, that the ECB somehow think that suggesting a still-popular figure like Stewart is in the frame for any job that is going makes them look more in tune with yer actual cricket supporters. If they later say he has withdrawn (has Stewart himself ever said that he has withdrawn, rather than just not being interested in the first place?), we can all say "well, they tried" as they appoint someone who won't rock their boat.
Mind you, Brendon McCallum has been rock'n'rolling it since arrival!

There’s a chance that the people currently in charge might just know what they’re doing.

Or they are, or have been so far, "lucky generals".

The pundits on Sky who still suck up to Key as he is their
mate keep going on about what a great job RK has done.
Stokes was the only choice as captain and Baz done a great
interview so it was obvious to appoint them both.

Come on now Scrooge! It’s the season of goodwill. I assume you’d say the same goes for appointing Batty as interim manager when there were apparently no other options? The point with England is Key has gone with his gut and is prepared to put his rep on the line for this. McCullum may have interviewed well but nobody can argue he wasn’t a wildcard pick and England usually take the conservative option. Even with Stokes as captain, he may have been the standout candidate but there were plenty of reasons not to give it to him. I didn’t agree with a lot of Key’s points when he was a pundit but he deserves credit for the job he’s done so far.

Key done well to appoint Baz. But that’s it the rest is all
down to Baz and Stokes. The Sky lot brown nose Key so much
makes you want to puke.

Stewart has returned to work today, Lynn's health has improved. Great news on both grounds.
