2023 Fixtures

I'm sure there'll be more to dissect, but at first glance having T20 games on a Sunday is crap and barely any weekend cricket past the middle of May at home is rubbish

5 rounds of the championship alongside the Ashes so we’ll miss our Test players for those.

Noted - I’ll wait a few months.
Ps. Looking forward to you moaning about where we’re allowed to sit at T20s again

Re: 2023 Fixtures
Well odd to see no Surrey men's first team cricket at Guildford if my eyes do nor deceive.
The lack of weekend lvcc cricket in July and September disappointing.
The T20 fixtures seems to be a deliberate attack on Surry`s big money earner by the ECB.

Re: 2023 Fixtures
So the teams we only play once are:- Essex at home, Somerset at home, Northants away, Notts away.
The sooner we get back to playing everyone twice the better but not if it means only 12 or 10 matches each season.

No there isn't. Possibly an ODC.
A predictable mess as it's based on last year. Best away trips are not available, Notts and Northants, and the Bowl is late September, the Xmas fixture. A mess of T20 intermixed with the CC is just daft and a nightmare for players.
ODC, well Welbec (went last year) and York in August is a good double header just 2 days apart.

As much as I'm not a fan of Guildford, why spend all that money there on improving facilities there to then not use it...

The problem is lack of seating. They've removed loads of seats and it's only 2000 capacity which is not suitable for 1st Class cricket - remember the mess with the Leicester 0DC last August? The way round it is to get rid of one of the tents and put in extra temporary seating. Otherwise you've got a situation where even Members won't get in, let alone locals.

Regardless of the different views concerning Guildford, the absence of any explanation or even comment by Surrey CCC as to what is happening is extremely poor and shoddy. Elworthy and Eadon are damned by the total lack of opennesss and transparency as are the General Committee for not holding them to account.

The fixture says we are playing Kent at Canterbury
but do you think it could get switched to Beckenham?

I read on here somewhere in a report back from a meeting that Stewart said or agreed that all county championship matches should be played at the oval.

No because Beckenham are not hosting any 1st Division games next year - not even T20.

I think what he meant was all home matches including the one normally played at Guildford. Guildford is stuffed because it's reduced its capacity.

Re: 2023 Fixtures
I can't understand playing T20 on weekend afternoons. The whole idea behind the format was that people could watch a complete game in the evening without taking a day off work, it's just a waste of a weekend to me and attendances always seem lower when they're played in the afternoon.Alex! wrote:https://www.kiaoval.com/surrey-ccc-2023-fixtures-released/
