Re: Warwickshire 27-30 April
why do we have an agreement that Abbott is rested with CA
Good to see Moriarty in the squad, though I suspect him to be 1 of the 2 missing out, possibly Atkinson being the other 1

Good to see Foakes back. While I can understand cricket australia wanting Abbott to rest, I'm surprised it is being scheduled for immediately after a rest week rather than in one of our next run of matches played in consecutive weeks.
My team: Burns, Sibley, Pope, Smith, Foakes, Steel, Clark, Lawes, Roach, Worrall, Moriarty

Warks have named a 12 man squad including Danny Briggs who has been skippering their seconds team in the ongoing match at Guildford.
Given the home side presumably think there may be something in the Edgbaston track for their slow left armer, maybe we'll think the same and play Moriarty? If so, I would guess Patel and Atkinson being on drinks duty in line with Jackers' team.

I’d be surprised if Moriarty plays. Foakes for Abbot is likely to be the only change from the last match.

Good call, Ali. Foakes for Abbott is our only change.
Surrey win toss and bowl.

With Abbott not playing, perhaps Patel with get a few overs on this pitch, unless he’s forgotten how to bowl.

Forgotten how to catch by the look of things. Should be taking that...

Silly Bollocks Church who repeats everything umpteen times and a giggling girl are the commentators.I can't stand any more and am on mute.

Re: Warwickshire 27-30 April
Good toss to win, by the look of things. Although the forecast over the next few days isn't conducive to watching, when you dig deeper there isn't much more rain about after today so we've set ourselves a great platform. Their prodigous seam attack will be a handful under these conditions, so I suspect we may see a low-scoring game.

Not straightforward. Awkward height and came quickly to him. Also I suspect his hands might have been a touch cold.Alex! wrote:Forgotten how to catch by the look of things. Should be taking that...

I like Church’s commentary. It’s much better than many of the TMS lot.

Re: Warwickshire 27-30 April
I respect Church's knowledge and experience. He is generally worth listening to. I wish he would "pull his punches" less though. He's just rattled off Surrey's top four's early season performances and described Ryan Patel as a "little short" of runs (emphasising the word little). Why not say "Ryan has missed out so far, though it's early days of course".

I think he’s worried about being censored if he’s too harsh. TV commentators at ICC events (WTC, CWC, WT20, CT) are not allowed to criticise the umpires.
The BCCI took Mark Butcher off air when India got away with a glove in 2021 against England and Butcher made them play the proper footage showing Rahane had actually gloved it and England got a review back as a result.

Was about to say that was decent day on a pitch that is still tricky to bat on until Lawes nicked off at the end. Smith has been excellent
Really hope we can get a 100 run lead or so, would really turn the screw

Burns, Patel, Foakes, Smith all with really important innings today, not that they'll get headlines for them.

Yes, we batted with real purpose and no little skill against a high quality attack in challenging circumstances. Seems wrong that we do not have even a solitary batting point.

Surrey have rightly prioritised ensuring so far as possible that we are in a strong position to win the game over chasing 2 or 3 batting points.......Bazball,shmazball.

I like Mark Church but I’m not impressed with his commentary. He repeats himself far too often and I could really have done without stories about his father wearing the same clothes for several days.
