Ashwin was presented with a Surrey cap in front of the Bedser Stand during the Oval Test against India (in which he wasn't playing!) in one of the lunch intervals. There was a photograph on the Surrey Twitter feed at the time. Graeme Smith was also capped by Surrey during his Championship debut in 2013, whereas various regular players have been made to wait much longer before they were honoured, if they were ever capped at all.

I might be way off here but I believe it’s a ‘debut cap’ - not a ‘been capped’ cap.
