Re: Surrey T20 side
What I would go for here is:
Roy, Jacks, Amla, Evans, Smith, Clark, Clarke, S Curran, T Curran, Moriarty, Batty

It is surprising given Amla's past record but, assuming he isn't injured, I can understand it on tactical grounds. Although still a classy batsman he's not a big hitter, is slow running between the wickets and ordinary at best in the field.
As mentioned last night, Dunn deserves his opportunity. Admittedly, I didn't see him getting in for Amla. Clarke, Geddes and Patel are the other ones missing out as I thought.

7 bowlers (8 including Jacks)... are we feeling OK?

Hi RB - add Jacks to Batty and Moriarty and you've got your 3 spinners tonight. Bring in Virdi as well next time and all your Christmases will have come early!

Re: Surrey T20 side
Chris Green is clearly a canny bowler, but we are on course for 200+, especially if Will Jacks stays another few overs.
Sounds like a fair number of Surrey supporters are there tonight.

Can't help but get the feeling we've made a bit of a meal of this, inclined to say Roy should have sacrificed himself for Jacks but suffice to say that isn't his style

Ethan's not really a T20 bowler, I don't think...
Probably need 12 overs from the spinners!

That catch from TC was a worldie, and he's bowled well so far

I was worried after the powerplay, but this has been a fantastic performance

Batting very dependent on Stiriing and Morgan. Bowling very thin (or should I say Finn?) as TRJ injured, Helm has Covid and in the slow bowling department Murtagh is injured. I am not optimistic!
Will we see the Geddes Axe?
I seem to have got most of that right. No, I don't know the lottery numbers.

Re: Surrey T20 side
His final figures won’t reflect it but I thought Moriarty was superb. He bowled straight through a crucial time when Middx had to keep up with the rate and alongside Batty and TC it won us the game. Morgan got into him in his last over but I was particularly impressed with how he kept his composure and didn’t crumble under the pressure. He has an excellent temperament and I hope we can all agree to banish any talk about ever not picking him in a white ball game 🤪
In addition, credit to the much maligned Jamie Overton. Batted well again and he puts in some excellent work fielding on the boundary. He’s very fast and athletic for a big chap.

Not a great fan of T20, but we look like we have the best squad out their. Lets hope if we get through we don't fall at the last hurdle again.

Re: Surrey T20 side
I reckon it'll be the opposite of Surrey's usual t20 season.
Usually we start slowly and then go on a run too late and just miss qualifying for the quarters. I think we will start strong and then fade away when we lose Roy and the Currans.
Really home I'm wrong and the likes of Amla, Pope, Jamie's, Dernbach and Plunkett/Topley if hey get back fit can help us out.

Same squad for tonight in Taunton. Obviously a fine win yesterday but I'm not sure the balance was right. I would look to replace a bowler with a batsman. Maybe Geddes for Dunn.
I would though leave Amla on the sidelines. Whilst he would be one of the first names written in my Championship or 50 over team sheet, I'm not convinced he cuts it any more in t20s.

Hi GB, completely agree on the balance of the side. I see they’ve gone for the same again tonight. It looks like a great lineup for being 100-0 but it’s more likely that we’ll be 20-3 more often than not. Clark and Jacks as 5th bowler options is more than enough.

Cheers, CeeGee.
Just to add - with the odd exception, Middlesex were poor last night. Somerset will be a tougher outfit for sure and we'll need to be near our best.

Have to say we're strolling this, when we're at full strength it's hard to argue if there's many better sides in the south division. Just need to make the most of it before the England call ups come back to hurt us
