Surrey and the IPL
PCA making noises about players going to the UIPL having to pay 1% of their fees to their County if not on a central contract
Surrey apparently blocked Reece Topley going to the IPL

The PCA are also pushing back against the informal cut-off date for players without central contracts to sign as replacements, which saw Reece Topley denied the opportunity to play for Chennai Super Kings this year after Surrey told him they would not give him a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) and let him miss the start of the County Championship season.

Re: Surrey and the IPL
The players are only paying 1% of their fees and keep the other 99%. The club have developed the individuals to the state there are worth recruiting in the first place. Shouldn’t the club have a little compensated for the loss of their devices?

I see that the Currans, Jordan & Roy have all been released by their teams.
Does that mean they might actually play for Surrey?

No - they will now go into an auction and potentially could even be re-signed by their previous team.
Two more franchises have been added to the tournament.
So don't hold your breath.....

I see the Surrey Sixers are on this morning, featuring CJ, TC, Sean Abbot and Moises Henriques. Sean Abbot being the one to most recently play a first class game for Surrey. TC’s last was April 2019.

I quite like the Big Bash! The commentators don't take themselves (or the game) too seriously and are a breath of fresh air IMHO.

David played more games for us than Curran.Moses Henriques played a good knock today,Curran got runs and wickets,Evans scored 33* and Cameron Gannon of Banstead CC played for Brisbane.

The latest annoying catchphrase/ cliché is "He gave the stumps away."Closely followed by "He's got a good SET of hands."

Reminds me of the old joke about the economist (I bet you didn't know there were any jokes about economists) who says "On the one hand .... on the other hand ... on the other hand ...".

Re: Surrey and the IPL
I do not want to spoil your Xmas and New Year but... with the IPL expanding and its season extending any Surrey IPL players may not be available until June by which time the T20 is underway and then THe Hundred follows after which I suspect the ECB will want them to "rest"...
Which poses the question are these players on White ball contracts only and, if not, should they be ?

Are they actually costing Surrey anything when not available, what with central contacts and so on? Losing Collingwood's central coptract was what tipped Durham over the financial edge, wasn't it?
I've lost track of who pays whom when it come to |IPL and the like. I thought counties initially got a cut but it may not be true now (if it ever was).

Re: Surrey and the IPL
Both Currans and Reece Topley resigned with Surrey post 2021 season
https://www.kiaoval.com/currans-topley-sign-new-contracts/
England have recentlt changed how they pay central contracts - Red Ball contracts were about
https://cricketaddictor.com/cricket-news/ecb-revises-england-mens-structure-for-central-contracts/
Sam Curran, Rory Burns and Jason Roy have central contracts
Tom Curran an incremental one
How much are they worth?
Full contracts are worth up to £925,000 per annum, though there are some discrepancies.
Previously, red-ball contracts were worth in the region of £650,000 per year, plus bonuses relating to performance.
White-ball deals were worth anywhere between £250,000 and £300,000 per year in addition to a county salary.
On top of that pay, players could expect to receive £14,500 per Test and £4,500 for a white-ball appearance"]

Re: Surrey and the IPL
Apparently Solanki is going to be DoC at one of these new teams they're setting up.
Does this mean he's on his way? I can only say with bitter disappointment that I hope so

Re: Surrey and the IPL
It might answer the question as to who is really in charge of the first team, the Coach Vikram Solanki or the Director of Cricket, Alec Stewart as the IPL will not cease until the end of May.
