Hove Sunday
Worth the trip? One of my favourite grounds to go to.
That said we may be awfully uncompetitive without Steel, and have a tail that begins at 7 and that’s being generous given I wouldn’t consider Lawes or Kimber as recognised batters…

Well it'll be hot, 31 and there isn't much shade. That said it's a nice ground and a good day out. Go for a swim during the break! If not there is always the live stream. Very impressive too from Radlet yesterday.

Does anyone ever get angry at the members' forums?

Re: Hove Sunday
Darren Stevens will be available for next year as Kent are not renewing his contract. Maybe we can make him an offer now for the ODC? He's only just 47.

Define “angry”! Respectfully angry would be appropriate. Certainly someone had an, ahem, heated discussion with Stewart re Burns at the last one.

Re: Hove Sunday
I remember going down to Hove many years ago during another really hot spell. We never saw the sun there all day because we had a Sea Fret, which is a sea mist that lingers. It was really cold all day and I felt freezing .So don’t assume it’s going to be as warm down there as it is here.Be prepared!! And Good Luck to the Surrey Second Eleven.

Re: Hove Sunday
I see we’ve suddenly called up two young academy batters to address our batter shortage for this competition. It’s about time! Good luck to them both.

They say it's because of the World Cup in October, so they can "get ready" but of course the 100 is in August which is the real reason. International cricketers are not interested in 50 over any more we're told.

And, no two consecutive cricket seasons should ever have a similar running order.

With Surrey missing 21 players, barring a miracle with the bat from Geddes and/or Patel this won’t even be a contest will it?

Those with most money.
Are you seriously suggesting it's not?

Are you saying the 100 is about greed or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Re: Hove Sunday
It is about the ECB being in control of the income it is supposedly going to generate. However, as the costs incurred and spending on the promotion of the format, they admitted that it would not be profitable for 5 years. If, as it has been alleged, many tickets are given away then the income will not be as high as projected. What happens regarding the payout to the counties after 5 years, who knows?
If money had been spent improving the publicity for the T20 blast, then counties would have received ALL the income that generated as opposed to the likes of Harrison getting a bonus. Aside from messing up the structure they have invented a new format which no other country in the world is going to play. That's the greed-it's CONTROL.
