I believe Day 4 is free entry, if we get that far.
Rail strikes also this week Thurs and Sat I think.

Diplomatic question: what are the bag searches for booze like at Lord's for the Championship this season?

Well, I'm going to go - I don't think I've been to Lord's for more that 40 years.
The Lord's ticket page indicates that entry is free on Saturday though only for over 65s and under 16s; it's £5 for others.
You're allowed two cans of beer or a bottle of wine (or a few other alcohol options). And you can bring food. No fancy dress, musical instruments or flags though!

Re: Middlesex (A) - 19-22 Jul
I am going, in fact a very nice, elderly Middlesex member friend has invited me to the pavillion on the first day so I had better dust down a jacket. I do hope they don't get too rowdy in there when the players are going through the Long Room. I'll probably go on Friday too, but Thursday and Saturday are likely to be chaos on the railways.
I certainly don't love Lord's, but I don't hate it enough to boycott it completely.

I wouldn't go as far as to say I was boycotting it.
You can go in the pavilion on a Surrey membership if you are dressed 'appropriately'.

I went to a Championship game in April there. Unfortunately they were searching all bags. I think 2 cans (or 1 bottle) means 2 cans!Jason wrote:Diplomatic question: what are the bag searches for booze like at Lord's for the Championship this season?

Wow, all these elderly suspected criminals and terrorists going to the County Championship. Who would have thought it. They actually want you to buy their beer at about £8 a pint and £6 sausage rolls. Nothing to do with security.

Hate Lords full of upper class stuck up ponces. Sam Curran to replace Overton?

How about Sam Curran and Gus Atkinson (for extra / changed bowling options) in for Jamie Smith (would benefit from a rest?) and Tom Lawes? So: Burns, Sibley, Latham, Curran, Foakes, Jacks, Abbott, Clark, Overton, Atkinson, Worrall.

Five seamers not enough?

I think Surrey have struggled with their bowling recently - in particular against Notts in the last match and against Kent in the away match.VicNorth wrote:Angus French wrote:How about Sam Curran and Gus Atkinson (for extra / changed bowling options) in for Jamie Smith (would benefit from a rest?) and Tom Lawes? Drop Burns and pick Patel. Make Sam Curran captain who replaces Overton. Atkinson for Lawes.
Sorted.

Just seen that Gus! Maybe he got a knock on Saturday on finals day? Could be unchanged then or Atkinson plays for someone.

Re: Middlesex (A) - 19-22 Jul
It's a difficult one, with a number of players rather out of sorts - especially the captain.
Sam Curran has never bowled well at Lord's, so to the extent we miss him it will be for his batting.
While he didn't bowl especially well last week, I think Lord's will suit Tom Lawes's type of bowling, so I would rest Jamie Overton ahead of next week's game at Taunton which I would want him fit and fresh for.
I would go: Burns, Sibley, Latham, Smith, Foakes, Jacks, Clark, Abbott, Lawes, Atkinson, Worrall.

Re: Middlesex (A) - 19-22 Jul
I agree. I'm a bit worried about this one. Ever since we opened up a big lead at the top we seem to have gone off the boil and the gap has closed. Middlesex have picked up recently and were unlucky not to force a win last week. We're going to need a few of ours to be back at their best if we're going to get anything here.Jhe10077 wrote:Missing Roach.
