Surrey Women from 2025
BBC Story ECB announces eight counties to host professional women's teams from 2025
So presumably South East Stars based at Beckenham will from 2025 disband and Kent and Surrey will go their seperate ways.
Seems the team will play at either Guildford CC or LSE New Malden while a new secound ground is acquired.
With The Tag Line.... Three Feathers, Two Teams, One Club!
Surrey website
Kent website - club statement - not happy
Sounds like Kent have every right to be aggrieved, and we'll be the likely beneficiaries. (9 of the 80 English players in the Hundred play for Kent)
13 counties bid to have a ladies team, Middlesex not one of them (probably too skint to bid)
Interesting quote at bottom of Kent Statement "Work will also continue with our vision to transform The County Ground, Beckenham into becoming a venue to host a potential third Hundred team in London"
You wonder how that would go down with Kent CCC members planning on putting all that potential investment in to Beckenham not Canterbury.

Re: Surrey Women from 2025
It's a minor point but in a professional work setting, which this now is, these teams prefer to be called women's than ladies which should be reserved for formal settings.
Great news for the game this move.

Reminds me of the classic line: "That's no lady... that's my wife."

Unfortunately this doesn't excite me one iota. But does it matter if we say Ladies or Womens? Perhaps it does.
