One Day Cup
Maybe it isn't worth starting a thread on this if Covid John rips through it. I'll be canabilised to prop up the 100. (I see 60 athletes and others in the Olympics have been pinged).
Anyhow no news is good news, so first game hopefully away to York's on Thursday.

Re: One Day Cup
What's our XI then? Something like
Amla, Stoneman, Smith, Steele, Geddes, Clarke, Batty, McKerr, Atkinson, Moriarty, Dunn
I'll be honest, I don't think we'll be putting many runs on the board...

Re: One Day Cup
Steele being in isolation is not an ideal start. Pleased to see that Tim David is sticking around for a bit.
The omission of Batty is...odd

Our old mate Matt Pillians in the Yorkshire squad. Hope he doesn't get a 5 for!

Nico Rosberg is the 30th player we’ve used this year.

Ah, that's why Batty isn't playing. According to Mark Church, with Solanki at the H*ndred, Batty is acting head coach...! (And just had a natter with Moriarty on the boundary.)

Head coach for this is Richard Johnson, according to the club website. Think Batty might be just helping out as a coach. Still think he should play a game or two.

Re: One Day Cup
Jamie Smith sprinting 40 odd yards behind him and taking a grab like that. So glad he decided to turn down offers for the new thing and play 50 over cricket. Brilliant talent.

The Surrey players missing this and taking part in that other rubbish tonight at The Oval should be ashamed of themselves.

As much as I wish The Hundred would disappear, it's probably a financial no-brainer for them.

Re: One Day Cup
Enjoying watching this via YouTube on my big screen. Scarborough looks a picture, and the Yorkshire crowd are very quiet which is always a good sign!
So far so good - Gus Atkinson has continued his impressive form from the T20s. A chase of 166 is tailor-made for Stoneman and (especially) Amla. Stop press: the not-so-wicketless-wonder has just dismissed him and Geddes!!
I was staggered that Surrey had allowed our Head Coach to swan off to the Hundred for the duration. What on earth are we doing - they are our competitors. The fact that he won't be missed isn't the point: it is the principle I object strongly to. Does there come a point where we challenge the club on whether they are trying to undermine county cricket while purporting to be protecting the interests of the club and its members?

I think we are long past that point.I will certainly be voicing my opinion in no uncertain terms to any of the players/staff that cross my path.
