According to this article he’s just ‘England opener of yesteryear’

Jordan, Topley and Evans all unsold at first time of asking. Brilliant stuff for Surrey as far as I'm concerned.

Tim David has signed for Lancs for the T20.

On the Aus/Sri L T20 commentary all they seem to talk about is IPL/money.I switched off.

Arron Finch also goes unsold. If he ends up playing for someone else in the Blast then Stewie is clearly asleep at the wheel. I reckon we’d need an overseas spinner to give us anything close to what we’ll be missing without Batty playing too.

Jordan has now been sold I think, this would be in addition to Roy. Curran T will also be missing injured for some time and who knows who England will nick. That would still leave in a better place than in recent seasons and an overseas player (pace bowler I assume) to come.

The IPL draft again passed me by, as will the competition. The fewer Surrey players there, the better

This means our new T20 captain will miss the first 4 matches and if picked for England T20 v India, he misses the QFs if we make them.

It seems to me that now the ECB is "concentrating" on red ball, or supposed to be, players need to choose between England/ Counties OR the hit and giggle league's but not both.
I'm not a T20  fan but Jordan was bloody awful against the Windies in the bit I did see. Why do we need him back?

Stewie seemed to be under the impression Jordan would go unsold when I challenged him on this at the last forum...

I do not blame the players for taking the IPL money, that is a career decision they are entitled to make, disappointing as it is. Cricketers do seem to enjoy playing in the IPL with the crowds and razamataz, while county clubs cannot compete in cash terms. Ideally the ECB could get an agreement that county cricketers will be released when the Championship starts, but that is unlikely.

The ECB could bar any player on a central contract from playing IPL, but some would not accept the contract and become white ball mercenaries.

The blame, as usual, lies with the ECB for not dealing with the problem at the start. In fact they encourage players to go to India and I think accept money in compensation which they fail to pass to the counties whose players are involved. Can anyone confirm that this is the case?

Perhaps its time to say bye bye to those who want it both ways. Either play for England or bugger off and be a white ball hit and giggle mercenary. Ok you'll lose a few players but really this nonsense has gone on long enough.

Azhar Ali signs for Worcester and is available for the entirety of their county championship season. I feel like we’re missing out on some serious players while Stewie touts himself around for the England job.

Is he? Pakistan's Test series against Aus doesn't finish until the end of March (so he'll end up being "rested" for 3 weeks) and they also have a Test series against Sri Lanka in June?

These things can always change, RB - as you know- but Worcs have said he should be a available for the county champ season. According to Wisden the Sri Lanka series is end July/August and will likely only clash with the one day cup.
