Seems like that most of them are just going through the motions and just waiting for the end of the season. I’m beginning to feel the same myself.

Getting thrashed around the oval by the weakest county championship side embarrassing.

Does anyone else feel that Amar Virdi just bowls the same delivery, over and over again?

A lovely late September's day out in the sun.
Our bowling must be the weakest in the country, though Sussex are giving us a run for our money in that category.
Rikki must be counting down the hours.

There were clearly far to many boundary balls served up with a small boundary on one side, but this is yet another disappointingly flat first day pitch.

Whatever he's bowling its rubbish. He seems to have gone to pieces.
Nice in the sun but a real bore of a match. Could have given Rikki a useful pitch, it's flat as a pancake, until we bat.
I have heard rumoured that Foakes might be off to Essex and Dunn has been given another 2 years!
Looking like that 2022 renewal is even more unlikely.

I doubt Essex (or anyone) could offer Foakes the money we give him, but perhaps he wants to be part of a team that's going to win things. If he's more concerned with medals than money then he has my respect.
I don't know what his contract situation is, but if we have any leverage over the situation and think that Jamie Smith can cover the keeping then perhaps we at least negotiate a swap for Alistair Cook, given our desperate need for a quality opener and Sir Alistair's reported problems with Essex.

It shows the disarray that there is at Surrey that Foakes is even contemplating this. Another damming indictment of the management!!! We should not be contemplating new player signings, but a complete change of cricket management,we need a fresh start at the top, we cannot go on like this match after match. Never seen the morale so low!!

Yes agreed. In fact this could apply to the whole of cricket from top to bottom.

There is a palpable lack of intensity about our cricket. It has been there all season. Eleven players going through the motions. Is there a correlation between high wages and lack of hunger? Something needs to change. It seems inconceivable that this group could win the County Championship - talent does not equal performance, clearly. I don’t think the club has the balls to move Stewie on, or Solanki.

Our performances in the last 2-3 years suggest that we should not be in Div1 next year. If only two divisions, next year’s Championship cannot be on the 2019-20 positions.

I have. I've also seen the table which shows them sitting above us.

Win the toss, bat on a flat one, try and salvage a draw

I should also point out that we're going to have to bat twice and score over 400 runs to avoid a worse result than Northants. Based on our recent performances, I'm not particularly confident.

Actually probably well over 500, the way this is going ....

Is Jordan Clark injured? I wouldn’t want to bowl on this pitch either but only 12 overs stands out.
