Seconds at The Oval tomorrow
With Surrey gearing up for the start of their T20 campaign, the club have selected a strong squad for their behind-closed-doors 2nd XI warm-up against Sussex.

Re: Seconds at The Oval tomorrow
A Surrey game behind closed doors at the Oval with apparently not even members permitted is very shabby. The lack of any explanation is even worse.

Are we allowed to exclude SUSSEX members?

Re: Seconds at The Oval tomorrow
Thanks for the info Guildford, I was thinking of popping down to the Oval! I had not seen any info about this, is tomorrows game also spectator free? Why was the closed doors element not mentioned on the squad listing?
I totally agree that this is shabby, doesn't membership include all Surrey home games?

Re: Seconds at The Oval tomorrow
The reference to “behind closed doors” has now been removed from the brief feature about today’s seconds game on the Surrey website.
No reference to the removal of the wording has been given or any explanation as to why the previous wording was there.
My take now is that that members will be admitted but I suggest anyone planning on going check with the Club first.
The communication and lack of transparency is dreadful.

Re: Seconds at The Oval tomorrow
I am sure Richard Gould announced at a members' event 18 months or so ago that the ground would in future be open all year round so that members could pop in to the Alcock Room and have a coffee. Does no-one else remember this? Even if the stands around the ground are not open, you can get a reasonable view of the action from the Alcock Room and I am sure you would be able to watch the action from elsewhere in the Pavillion without too many problems.

Yes remember it well did go prior to Covid.
Haven't heard if the Alcock has reopened for people to go in at the moment

Re: Seconds at The Oval tomorrow
Only the pavillion was open apparently.I got this email at around 4 o'clock.
Hi
yes, we were welcoming people today (although the rain has kept people away!) and will be tomorrow.
There will be tea and coffee but I advise bringing some food.
Very best
Rebecca

Re: Seconds at The Oval tomorrow
Not sure if I can start a new thread, so I'll bump this one.
For anyone really desperate, there is a single camera live stream of the Middlesex-Surrey seconds match at Radlett. A young chap called Tendulkar is playing for Middlesex. Yes, son of the great man but apparently a seamer. Perhaps we'll have sons of Atherton and Tendulkar playing, to follow up the Hutton-Compton combo of ten years ago or so.

At which point it seems to have died, or at any rate gone back to zero. Highlight clips are there though.
