So no Sam Curran after all, which is the right call if he is not fit to bowl. Given his presumption that he would be playing as a batsman, this may be an early sign that Gareth Batty is stamping his authority on proceedings. Good for him.

I didn't realise so many of our seamers were injured before the season even starts. Ho-hum, plus ca change...Taylor hardly inspires confidence, but will have to play if we are to muster five front-line bowlers, which means that one of Will Jacks or Ryan Patel will miss out. As we have no front-line spinner in the squad, I guess Jacks gets the nod.

For me: Burns, Smith, Amla, Pope, Jacks, Foakes, Clark, Overton, Roach, Taylor, Topley

Jesus, there are seven injured players already and we haven't started yet! What is it with this club?

RB will be spitting who knows what. Our only spin option is Jacks but I think one of Taylor or Overton could miss out and we play with 6 batsmen + Foakes at 7. Not surprised Sam is out-he hardly scored a run in pre season matches.

Overton and Taylor are fairly useless and I would have rather had spinners in there…

Here’s hoping this will be the season when we see a strong return in the wickets column from Jamie O.

This is what I’d do - never ever ever ever EVER play 5 seamers.

1 17 R Burns (c)
2 26 R Patel
3 1 H Amla
4 32 O Pope
5 11 J Smith
6 9 W Jacks
7 7 B Foakes (wk)
8 8 J Clark
9 88 J Overton
10 66 K Roach
11 24 R Topley

I know it's early April but not having one frontline spinner with the batting that we do have is daft.

it seems a bit strange that we dont have a front line spinner in the squad, yet neither Moriarty or Virdi can be injured as they werent mentioned in the huge injury round up
I agree with the XI that RB has selected, with Taylor missing out. At least that way we have 4 seamers, Jacks as the spinner and Patel as back up
On paper, that looks a decent XI, but we all know that the game isnt played on paper. and lets not forget that we are going to the current champions

I just don't get why we're going in with six frontline batsmen. Surely that top five and Foakes could cobble enough runs on the board to allow a spinner.

In other news kind of glad Curran isn't playing, still more than handy with the bat but I can't justify his place without a good bowling workload...

Love the irony...

Batty a career spinner, deciding we don't need a spinner for his first game in charge!.

How conflicted must RB be that his "crush" is letting the spinning side down so badly!

Personally, I'd have selected Moriarty over Taylor and Overton every day of the week.

Taylor selected over Overton. I mean, I wish the lad all the very best, but err...

has to be said that taylors figures werent great in the inter-squad friendly last week, but he did outbowl Overton, so maybe thats why he has been picked in front of him

I would also be surprised if the line up of Foakes, Smith, Jacks at 5,6 & 7 remains that way

batting 1st, heres hoping we are still batting at the end of the day

Any county that makes you sign up on their website or tries to make it really difficult to find on Youtube needs to get their heads checked out. Audio is also awful...

Many thanks, Alex.

Appalling that it's so difficult to obtain.

If the stream is different on other days, grateful if you can again supply.
