Re: Title run in
Do we know whether Overton, Worrall and Atkinson will be available? They were all out injured the last time we played a Championship match. I'm guessing Steel, T.Curran and possibly Reifer may be in contention for a place.

Re: Title run in
I see some counties have signed overseas spinners for the run-in. Our team selection will be vital, especially in the absence of Jacks. If we go in without a spinner Burns will have to keep a close eye on overrates as every point is going to be vital.

Re: Title run in
The team turning out for the 'stiffs' against Somerset is stronger than any we fielded in the RL50!
Geddes, Patel, Steel, Smith, Atkinson, McKerr, Moriarty and Virdi are all playing.
Reassuring that Gus Atkinson appears to be fit, but slightly worrying that Dan Worrall isn't involved to give him some overs ahead of next week after such a long lay-off.

Only 60 overs at Hampshire today, and rain expected most of tomorrow. A draw would nice, as Northants is looking like a rain interrupted game next week. Watch Lancs though, beating Leics easily.

They may well win if it's a low scoring game but I wouldn't call 272/8 at the end of day 1 "beating them easily".Chinaman wrote:Keith Powell wrote:Lancs playing YorkshireChinaman wrote:Only 60 overs at Hampshire today, and rain expected most of tomorrow. I think the 100 has put me on the turn. I'm looking at Notts vs Leics score and confusing it with York's vs Lancs! I'll be better soon.

Lancashire were 231 for 1 at one point. Finished at 276 all out so only 2 batting points. Play due to start at 2pm at Southampton. Do we still need to worry about Essex ?

Re: Title run in
Right now we need 22 points from the last three games to guarantee finishing ahead of Essex, assuming they claim all 19 remaining points from their current match plus the maximum 72 from the next three. If we can't achieve that I doubt we'll have also finished above both Hampshire and Lancashire.Jedrich wrote:Pink Panther wrote:They may well win if it's a low scoring game but I wouldn't call 272/8 at the end of day 1 "beating them easily".Chinaman wrote:Keith Powell wrote:Lancs playing YorkshireChinaman wrote:Only 60 overs at Hampshire today, and rain expected most of tomorrow. Two days in and Northants and the Yorkies have done a decent job at helping us out...

Re: Title run in
Hampshire rattled up 400 to garner the maximum available batting bonus points. We have to assume they are going to get another set of maximum batting points at home to Kent's pie-chuckers next week. Even if weather makes a draw inevitable at Northampton, we need to bat at a sufficiently brisk rate to match this.

Re: Title run in
quite annoying that they got to 400, and full batting points, having been 273-7 and 354-9.
However those 5 points still leave them 11 behind us. Hopefully Northants (and rain) will help in the last 2 days

I've just cancelled my hotel. If there's any play on the first two days, I'm happy to donate the 30 quid I spent on early-bird match tickets to a struggling county who could do with the money.

Not a good morning for Northants (or Surrey)

Re: Title run in
Hants have mostly steamrolled teams in a way that we don’t - we’ve won several games that have gone down to the final day. I hope I’m wrong but I think Hants style is more conducive to picking up wins in weather effected matches.

This is a different forecast than given by the BBC which seems to change every hour or two. Some rain around yes, but Wednesday and Thursday none forecast, while the BBC says rain all day. Check it out, I use this forecaster because it tends to be mor accurate and comprehensive.

The BBC weather forecast is supplied by Meteogroup rather then the Met Office. No weather forecast is accurate beyond 4 days and if it's showery, probably not accurate at all.
