Oval Wednesday
Looks like some rain around on and off all day, depending on what forecast you believe! I'll make a decision around 9am. There's always the live stream.

Re: Oval Wednesday
According to the Beeb’s 10 o’clock weather last night we should start on time and play until around 4. Bad light permitting, of course.

Don't think I'll go. Friday looks better (well, the weather does...the transport is another matter).
I feel desperately sorry for the poor sods who have paid silly money for day 1 of the Lord's test. Yes, they'll get a refund but it isn't like county cricket, you can't just go the next day when the forecast is better.

Well we need the rain. Latest satellite is showing rain from 2pm around the Oval. Hit and miss probably. I'll settle for a bit of live stream.

Surrey should be favourites today?
Shame for you not to get a last peep at James Hildreth, who has brought forward his retirement because of injury. I imagine he would have played if fit (and unretired). Lovely player to watch.

Changed my mind and I'm there. If I just get to see one completed innings it will.have been worth it.
Looking at the two teams, it should at least be a more even contest (albeit depressingly devalued...).

Best batsman out. Rain is the best bet for getting a point in this.

Re: Oval Wednesday
Perhaps if it rains we will see Somerset shamelessly waste time/cheat like they did last year.

Seen as much as I expected to, not going to hang about if it hammers down for an hour.
Enjoyed it up to a point but the lack of quality on both sides was evident.

Nice D/L win, especially over Somerset after previous ‘encounters’ with them.

Payback for Somerset's cheating last year when in the same situation they managed to avoid bowling 10 overs by pulling all sorts of strokes until the rain came.

10 miles? You could have walked it. Wait till I see you on Friday!
I'm over 30 away but still made it and saw some excellent batting by Nico, Lawes and Gumbs.
Taking 3 quick wickets gave us the edge on DLS.
Apparently, we can still qualify by beating Glos and winning at Notts; that would be a real shock but a shot in the arm for the kids.

taken from the BBC (& yes iknow they arent the most reliable of sources)
'It was Surrey's second group win but like Somerset and Durham, both without a point, they cannot now reach the knockout stages.'
I have no idea why but I can only assume that as we can still get to 9 points, there are games between the teams above us that will stop us finishing top 3

Re: Oval Wednesday
What they mean is that if we win the last 2, and 2 other teams drop at least one game, mathematically we could get through with 9 points. Possible but unlikely.
