Oh come on that's just a daft statement. It's not always about winning the competition that makes a good game.
Sometimes you need to stop moaning and just enjoy it rather than get in a state every time Surrey don't win something. It's not our right how ever daft the situation.

It was a dead rubber.

So? Loads of games are dead rubbers but that doesn't mean that that are not worth watching surely.

Clutching at straws, but there is an argument that it was more enjoyable because there wasn’t anything riding on the game (I’ve seen Surrey win or lose a lot of must-win games that weren’t enjoyable).

Completely with you there, Chinaman.
It wasn't pointless for youngsters like Krish Patel, Tommy Ealham and 'Terry' Griffiths hoping to make a career in the game or the crowd who turned up in good numbers and were well rewarded to the last ball.
Incidentally, an excellent stumping and another fine catch by Blake yesterday. I would look to play him whenever Foakes is unavailable.

I suspect Pope and Smith might be a bit upset about that. But yes, Blake has done very well.
They obviously breed keepers well at Surrey!

Presumably, the teams that reach the final of this will be allowed to field their deserters? How bloody ridiculous!

Will players have the brass necked cheek to play in the final after not taking part in any group games? No prizes for guessing the answer to that one.
A couple of years ago Durham brought them back for the final and Glamorgan didn't - Glamorgan won.

Delighted that Leicestershire have made the final. I could tell from the first game of the competition that they were a force to be reckoned with. They blew away a Surrey team including Burns, Patel, Foakes and Clark as well as other experienced squad members like McKerr, Steel, Dunn and Moriarty. While Hampshire will start favourites in the final , Leicestershire have proved that they need fear no-one.

Leicestershire's approach is old school, with five seamers. If Ackerman and Ahmed were available they would bowl some spin but even then they would be going against the orthodoxy of recent years that spin is the way to go.
Leicestershire is usually top of the list when the chatterers proclaim that there are too many first class counties so I'm pleased to see them in a final. Now if only they were playing Derbyshire...

Full coverage on You Tube. You don't need to listen to the woke BBC commentary, or have Sky.

What a remarkable team, and what a remarkable achievement for the cinderella county. They nearly chased down 500 at Sussex in the week. I would be delighted if they or Worcestershire joined Durham in the first division next year.

One of the best ODC games for ages. Don't know if Leicester would have got there if every one had their best sides out but all credit to them. Interesting they have several home grown players as well.

Re: 50 over cup 2023
I switched on this morning at 19-4. Got to about 100-6 or whatever it was and turned over to (my first love) F1 Qualifying. Then went off to Fulham vs Luton.
Was frankly astonished when I got on the train at Putney Bridge to see Hampshire faltering in reply (271 is never enough on the postage stamp of a ground Trent Bridge is) and watched on my phone until the end.
One thing I would change is to introduce a super over for tied knockout games in English domestic cricket, it's a fantastic innovation and significantly better than a win on fewer wickets lost / highest score after 10 overs / fewer letters in the alphabet etc.

Well it's got a lot more importance an consequence than the hit and giggle to county members.

Re: 50 over cup 2023
Well done Leicestershire, what a great game!I watched it all day.At least 2 commentators informed us that Chris Wright was about to join his 4th County - Sussex will actually be his 5th.Shouldn't they be getting this stuff right? A handily positioned Who's Who or Playfair would help them.
Also concerning Wright i was surprised that they didn't pick up on the fact that right at the end he was bowling to his best mate Keith Barker.
I've supported Leic in this comp since they trounced us at The Oval in the first game.
