County fixtures 2024

The fifty over cup is a no go for us with only a second eleven (if that) available. It truly is a development competition as far as we are concerned. I think we could do the Championship again, but agree there were some signs of decline. Will we be able to get Abbott and Roache next season. Lawrence will help the batting, but a lot will depend on who is available, i.e. avoiding IPL and international calls. It would be nice to see Sam Curran and Ollie Pope a bit.

Expecting Lancs and Durham to major runners with your Essex,Hants.& Notts being competitive.I Reckon we will be missing players regularly this season with a few players maybe on the decline.

I think Sam Curran is a worry from what your hearing from the England Squad, he may need Rehabilitation season.

Joe Root has withdrawn from facing 15 balls in the IPL.

Abbott wont be around for the first half of the season as its the IPL then the World T20.
So I imagine Roach will come over. Will the 2nd overseas be a batsman?

Can’t see Abbott Returning I think he’s stock has risen above playing for Surrey again.Fantastic signing he turned out to be.

Ridiculous that the T20 World Cup is every two years.

Guess it proves that with the money available, the football World Cup would be every two years if it was invented now.

Not during the IPL. We're more or less limited to red ball specialists or relative unknowns (in India) for the overseas options during the first half of the Championship programme.

Tom Latham I think was popular in the Dressing Room

Lancashire show good intent signing Nathan Lyon for Next Season. I think they will be pushing hard for The CC next season.

I was wondering who we could get as an overseas signing and hoping we could get a top quality spinner, who isn't involved with IPL and T20 World Cup - and he ticks all those boxes

Be interesting who we'll bring in to replace Sean Abbott because the T20 World Cup is 4th to 30th June, so we'll likely lose Sam Curran, Gus Atkinson, Reece Topley and Will Jacks, and with their participation in IPL none of them will be available to for Surrey until July. So thats half our T20 side of last season missing for half the T20 tournament next year.

The Vitality Blast T20 starts on 30th May so all our players selected for the T20 World Cup will miss the first 8 matches of that tournament.

Post World Cup Sai sudharsan was in the India ODI squad but didn't get picked for the 2nd string India team v Australia when India rested all their players that had played in the World Cup final. he obviously wouldn't be available to Surrey during IPL. (signed up for the Gujarat Titans)

Doesn't look like there are any New Zealand fixtures during the summer, Kiwi batsman Will Young has just signed for Notts for 7 County matches and whole of T20. but with Dan Lawrence signing not sure we need to prioritise a new batsman, and we obviously don't need a keeper.

West Indies first match in England is at Beckenham 3rd July so Kemar Roach could be available to Surrey if he re-signs for our first 5 county fixtures. Cover for the fact the Currans, Topley and Atkinson are all off playing in the IPL, and then possibly T20 World Cup.

In a bid to sort my own personal calendar out for 2024 I went to download the calendar file from Surrey's website. Despite having the 2024 fixtures listed on the page itself, the calendar file is still a link for 2023's fixtures

Just looking at the end of the month that Lancashire match in the County championship could be very interesting, 10th Match of the season, we'll hopefully be winning that to cement our place at the top of the table.

Can't let you have "equals", Wokoval! One is a subset of the other though (but not the other way round) and fits the Hundred perfectly.

The Lancashire fixture at Old Trafford starting April 5th will be interesting/cold.

I noticed Sussex have announced a pre-season friendly against Surrey 25th March (2 days) at Hove.

Is there any news of other pre-season games, presumably any home game would be at Guildford?

Sorry, just presuming a lowly attended midweek game might be played at a secondary ground. So if we have a home game before the season starts its likely to be at the Oval then?
