Didn't notice the news at time, but group stages end 19th July, and there is a 2 month gap before the finals - great scheduling!

It corresponds with England playing Australia in T20 Internationals on 13th and 15th Sept.

You wonder if County sides will be able to sign a 2x white ball overseas players just for that weekend?

Obviously the showpiece for Vitality T20 Blast and there will be no Aussie or England Internationals playing in the final.

Not a fan, but I don't really think to probably 75% of the crowd it matters whether there are any Internationals or a team with Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs. Bif bash and have another beer, and all that.

I think that perfectly sums up an evening fixture in the T20, not to mention the absurdity of the Hundred

Thanks Peter. Actually I used to watch the T20 when it first started, back in 2003. We won it, but the whole competition only lasted three weeks and didn't interfere with the main schedule: a bit of fun but no more. Adam Hollioake was asked at the 2003 AGM how he was going to approach it, he said he was open to suggestions but didn't have a clue!
Of course now it goes on for ever, especially when you add the 100, the Internationals which I don't see any point in and all the overseas competitions. But my problem was it was just all the same bish bang bash, drinkers, utterly predictable results, people who didn't have a clue about the game, crowds and God forbid live "groups" at Finals Day. We had Atomic Shitten, sorry Kitten at the Oval who were booed off. And now if cou it's just taking over from everything else and pushing the real game into obscurity. It's all about money, not sport, and I may be Iold fashioned, by not everything in life is about money. I've watched maybe 6 games or so in the last ten years and not one for probably 5.
Anyway just my angle on it.

Shows you whoever schedules the fixtures at the ECB dont give a toss about the counties.
Why dont the 2 Richards get involved so this sort of thing doesnt happen.

That 50 over cup is a mickey mouse tournament. We struggle to put a team out because of the crappy Hundred. This competition should be scrapped and CC games played in August. The counties given the power to recall players from teams in the Hundred so they can play CC matches.

Which I think would be better than the current status quo.

We go to Canterbury at least a couple of times a season including the Surrey CC match.Last year i took out a Kent "As the crow flies" Membership,or whatever it's called nowadays,a lot cheaper if you are 75 miles away or more.I renewed it for 2024 and got my card and "bumph" this morning.

Nothing from Surrey yet of course.I was a Member of Middlesex for a few years too before they removed so many games from Lord's.Their yearly card etc also arrived much earlier than Surrey.

Surrey are probably concentrating on the pre-season 2 course set evening meal without drinks at £30 each (apparently without any free drink although you have access to a bar). A bit steep and shoddy imo, particularly given it's a members only event.

Not me either. I seem to recall last year it was about a week AFTER the first game which was Old Trafford.

Nor me. Poor and sloppy from Surrey compared to the other Counties.

It's free entry but it's going to be a nightmare if they have the new system of scanning membership cards for members area access etc

I do find it odd though, some years its 2/3/4 before the season starts, sometimes it's 5/6 months before it starts. Just be consistent!

I have not had the membership card yet, but believe they are sending them out the end of this week.
The preseason at the Oval is free entry to every one and no restriction on general public using the pav, well that has been the way for ever as far as I know.
