I’d bet anything JRoy is swanning off the some t20 comp and Foakes is rested. We also probably won’t bother with any overseas support. Much the same as other seasons.

Thats not a bad squad to choose from in the 1 day cup, IF everyone is available.

Bit short on the batting front, esp if Roy isnt involved. Wouldnt surprise me though if he gets picked as wildcard in the 100 (cos apparently thats an option) or goes and finds another competition to play in somewhere else in the world

Considering there's talk of this becoming a franchise owned by Surrey CCC there's only 4 Surrey players in the squad.

Dawid Malan signing on one of the lowest wage rates seems a coup, presuambly for a price neither Sunil Narine and Jason Roy would get out of bed for. (£50,000 for a months work)

The 50 over cup is crap. Its our 2nd eleven against first eleven sides. We will get thrashed in some games look at Guildford last year it was awful.

Lets hope the fixtures at the Oval lift the team to put in some performances that show that some are ready for first team, so we don't have to sign overseas players in September unlike last season.

There are certainly a few on the fringes who need to play some games this season, or they really need to move on away from Surrey to develope their game.

Weren't these franchise competition supposed to be bringing all the best players in the world together? It seems to me that they are being spread more thinly than ever.

Yes they were. The problem is that the 100 doesn't pay as much as some of the T20 Leagues in other countries. I think that even a number of players left the 100 before the final last year for this precise reason. Basically no one else wants the 100 bar the ECB and a couple of naff counties. It's a dead duck and will be gone before the Sky TV contract even runs out in 2028. I can't see the BBC continuing with it, possibly even this year, with so many people dumping their TV Licence, even though it fits their woke agenda.
