Well, Dan Worrall completely asleep there.
There was a run there - Clark had made it comfortably!

Utterly horrendous by Worrell. What an idiot, surely he must’ve heard Clarke shouting to run. Unbelievable.

They got us out of a hole but Pope and Lawrence's dismissals were...very average.

What a difference a few days make, six wickets a few days ago,now Roach first 5 have gone for 25 ,including lots of no. Thank goodness for Worrall, currently 2 for 1.

Would you enforce the follow-on? Still 11 required…

It’s possible Worcestershire bowled well, right?

Interesting. I'm coming along tomorrow, could be a result. Good bowling or helpful pitch?

I turned up late, so only saw the last 6 wickets, but all the dismissals I saw were very poor. Wafts outside off stick, caught long leg and a ridiculous run out.
Worcestershire have been similarly profligate

County cricket doesn’t help itself does it. It is not darker now than it was when they came out after tea.

Is Adam Hose the worst specialist batsman currently playing in county cricket?
Matches 35
Average 25.84
Hundreds 1
The only one I can think who rivals him is Andy Umeed who got a route back in the the game solely due to being non-white:
Matches 22

325 runs, 17 wickets: not enough entertainment?

Re: Surrey v Worcestershire - County Championship
Sorry, but it's time to call out the excessive green-tops. Regardless of the fact that it is enabling The Oval to become a fortress, they are as soul-destroying as the "roads" used to be.
The forecast for Monday is lovely, but we are very unlikely to see any cricket played, just as we barely had any last Monday. Hell, unless the weather plays a significant part tomorrow, I'm not sure how much we'll get on Sunday. We then have no championship cricket to watch at home until the very last day of June. I'm not going to celebrate another Day 1 with a relentless clatter of wickets. Yes, there were some poor shots played (by players on both sides) but there was also excessive assistance from the wicket. No more of those, please.

I thought the last pitch was Ok. Oppo scored nearly 350, we got maximum battings points. Warwickshire just folded in the second dig.
This one is way too seamer-friendly.

The pitch doesn't do the batting and bowling.

That was my view when we regularly failed to bowl teams out prior to 2022. But those who automatically blamed the roads for the lack of wickets then should recognise that the excessively green pitches are playing a major part these days.

If Pope and Lawrence hadn't thrown their wickets away when well set, people would be saying the pitch is similar to last week's. As it probably is.

To be fair to Lawrence, he did seem to have adopted the mindset that there was one with his name on and he'd score quickly while he could.

I think the ball moved around and there were also some poor shots played. Our groundsman is excellent, but this pitch was a little dicey maybe because the forecast is rainy and a result is desired. This seamer friend track was presumably why Steel was omitted.
We need to bat well in our second innings to give Worcs an ungettable target.
I do wonder what would the score be had we batted first.

This plays in to my theory that some clubs and/or top brass would like to see the championship reduced to three day matches.

I think more than that: one division of just 10 counties. They don't want the likes of Northants, Leicester, Derby etc.
The ECB would probably like to dump it completely and just have back to back hit and giggle and T20 style "Tests".
Shame we can't vote these creeps out, but the counties stupidly got rid of the First Class Forum years ago so short of physically removing them, there does not seem to be a way.
I'm open to ideas!

Yes I'd agree to a point. But it's not always easy to get that ideal pitch which is neither too green or a road. Personally give me this wicket any day to a road. There is nothing more boring than 500 plays 500. But despite that, I think we were wrong footed being put in although I didn't see much play. But really their batting is always going to struggle against our 5 seam attack - like most sides.
