We lost it only just, because after our last wicket stand of 83 on Tuesday, it was obvious that the pitch had really flattened out. Today there were only 3 deliveries that took the edge. In fact yesterday I don't think Virdi edged one. Northants were always in the driving seat because right from the start they only needed just over 2 runs an over off 96. There was no pressure until the late flurry of wickets and despite what I said yesterday they were always favourites.
As for the team, well I would have played Moriaty, but you get what we've got I'm afraid.

But a great 4 days and welcome long awaited away trip for those who were there.

Fair enough. But the timing of Stomenan's release should still be under the microscope, in the context of his contribution to Middlesex's record opening partnership this week and the fine margins of our defeat to Northants. The judgement on this appears to have been a poor one.
