Penultimate Game: Yorkshire at the Oval 20-23 September
I now see this as the big one. I know weather forecasts are notoriously inaccurate until a couple of days before, but two separate ones are currently showing a wet week beginning 25th September at both Old Trafford and Edgbaston where Hants are playing Warwicks. In addition if it's overcast light will be a problem by 4.30pm in two weeks.
Others here are better than me with working out the numbers, but it could all go down to mother nature and a couple of bonus points I reckon. Should be fun!

The pitch will be key. Allowing us to gain max batting points and force a win will be tough.

There are a maximum of 5 batting bonus points available, while the win premium (over the draw) is 8 points. The priority is to win the match so the pitch should reflect that. Even if the pitch is challenging, with Pope and Foakes back we should be capable of getting a minimum of 300 (ie 3 batting points) against Yorkshire.

I am ready for the ECB to shaft us over Pope and Foakes' availability...

I am not sure about the ethics of this loan, should we be able to loan out a decent player in the circumstances? No blame attaches to Surrey since thems the rules at present. I hope McKerr does wonderfully well nevertheless.

No different to any other county that does it, and lets be honest, he's not getting in our XI at this point in time...

Agreed Alex, but should it be allowed. You could have a situation where we had completed our fixtures and Hampshire or another county had to get x points in their last game to overtake us at the top of the table. Pope and Worrall loaned to the opposition for one game would stink, an extreme example I know.

There was a Hampshire loanee playing for Warwickshire at the Oval so it’s not without precedent this season. The fact McKerr is better than Brad Wheal is neither here nor there. It’s good for him to get some games and if it benefits us then I think it’s a very clever move.

Give your heads a wobble if you are worried about the ethics.
We have been handicapped all season against Hampshire, who (possibly bar Dawson for a couple of games) have not been without a single player for championship matches. The ECB have plundered us relentlessly after the first few matches.
If the McKerr loan move is a small piece of sharp practice, I am glad the rules allow us to exploit it, to slightly redress the unfairness. Blimey, we are not talking Morne Morkel here...though McKerr is at least an upgrade on the rest of that pitiful Kent "attack"

Well why we are on Hampshire they actually played in the rain against Northampton last week. And yet this week we were taken off in perfectly playable light. The whole Championship has been an unfair and unbalanced mess. I hope Mckeer bowls then out this week - twice.

Closest you’ll probably get to any team news before 10.29 tomorrow is my mate did an Oval tour yesterday and saw Foakes doing WK drills with Stewie.

Pope and Foakes for Geddes and Smith I reckon.
If Overton is fit would he come in for Atkinson or Clark??
They will probably carry on with Steel as the spinner.

BBC Weather forecast for Vauxhall ok till Friday, then possible rain after lunch. Southampton very similar except possible rain from the start on Friday. I would hope we can avoid rain interference.

Cheers Alex. Burns, Patel, Amla, Pope, Foakes, Steel,
Clark, Overton, Curran, Roach and Worrall.
I reckon. Unless Lawes for Clark.

It is unbelievable that Sam, Jacks and Topley are wasting their time in this seven - SEVEN - game T20 jolly in Pakistan

At least they've made their intentions clear by not including either of the spinners in the squad.
I would go Burns, Patel, Amla, Pope, Smith, Foakes, Lawes, Clark, Overton, Roach, Worrall

Yes, may be a small risk with no spin, but we've not needed it so far. Not sure who you would drop anyway to get Steel in. Maybe Clark if they think it might turn a bit. Difficult one.

Why exactly are you moaning about players being selected for England? Hardly their fault.

Steel was in the last match and I suspect he'll keep his place. Pope, Foakes and Overton replacing Geddes, Smith and Atkinson with Lawes remaining benched would be my guess.
