That WinViz nonsense has to go as well. It had England at 51% to win.... 90 minutes later we'd lost by 146 runs.

Burns and Pope are on central contracts until October, so they'll need to be rested rather than play for Surrey this year, even if they don't play for England.

Haven't checked up on it, but it was said during the previous test that the Aussie squad played more 2021 county championship cricket than our squad. Resting. Very important. Particularly for batsmen.

Someone in the party has been talking to Nick Hoult of The Daily Telegraph - The salient points

Shambolic Intra-Squad warm up at Ian Healy Oval
Undercooked batsmen and bowlers practiced indoors before Brisbane Test
Anderson and Broad left out of Brisbane test due to fitnessRoot decided to bowl first at Brisbane against an equally undercooked Australia to send a message
England bet the farm on the Pink ball test at Adelaide with Anderson, Broad and Woakes playing to repeat the second innings performance   from 2017-18. The curator warned England the ball would spin.
Robinson's alack of fitness and conditioning an issue throughout the tour
Robinson declared himself fit to bowl at Hobart , having played a round of golf the day before in spite of a shoulder injury. He then broke down with a back spasm early on the first afternoon.
England had a drinking culture pre- Brisbane Test
Chris Silverwood left senior players out of the discussion on tactics. One senior player only found out he was dropped from the press and another had only 48 hours notice he was playing.
The Team tactics for Brisbane was that England would set a defensive field for Jack Leach when he came on. Root changed this on field bringing the field in and attacking when he brought Leach on . Leach was mauled by the Aussie batmen to the extend that it took hima couple of weeks to regain confidence.
Tension between batsmen and bowlers started after the post Adelaide test Team meeting
Rory Burns was not just dropped over form but also his reluctance to speak in team meetings as an experienced player and Surrey captain.

Rory Burns should get a haircut.

I say that as a long haired hippy but then i'm not Captain of Surrey CCC.

It's called "The Lockdown Look". Hameed is the same, but it didn't do much for his batting.

Apparently Pope had no confidence in Thorpe and wondered about getting Solanki out there.

Fucking hell

Who has any confidence in Pope? Not me. His whole Test "career" has just not happened. Don't think he will make it, looks a mess at the crease.
You know it doesn't really matter in the short term who the side is, just as long as this lot get the boot. The local village cricket team would do a better job.

Thorpe unlikely to be with England much longer....

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-10413393/Thorpe-lose-job-filming-leaked-footage-Englands-humiliated-Ashes-stars.html

PS - Pope's England career was kickstarted by making 158 IIRC in a county game against Yorkshire in which Joe Root was playing back in May 2018

Can’t imagine Thorpe has improved his chances of keeping his job after disclosing this event. Could well go along with Giles and Silverwood!

Looks like the hit and giggle side has caught the Ashes virus in the West Indies. Dear me.

Hopefully he sorts out Tim David as overseas for t20 before he goes.

Giles has walked the plank, with Silverwood next, it seems.

It's a pity we can't add Tom Harrison to the list and the rest of the decaying ECB.
Where is the news about Stewart going to England? Is it a short or long term appointment?

Beware though. It's out of the frying pan into who knows what as Strauss has taken back charge on a temporary basis (?).

Silverwood just given the boot as well. Strauss to appoint a new "interim" coach for the West Indies.
