Re: The Ashes 2021/22
Looks like we could have Burns and Pope playing regularly for Surrey next summer? But might loose Foakes if England decides to play the bes keeper.

Is this worst side we’ve sent to Australia for a long time, can’t see any optimism,no one pushing for inclusion in the side ,apart from Foakes!!

This is the worst England side I've seen in 40 years of watching Tests. No doubt about it. They make the '90s side look positively brilliant.

Sigh. I still think he should be dropped, but I will give some small credit to Buttler for lasting 200 odd balls before getting out the way he did.
Think that'll be it for Pope though, looks all over the shop

There's only one fixture in the England team. Probably why he (still) has to be captain.
Pope has time on his side but seems to have gone backwards since he first emerged looking like the next Ian Bell. Of course one of the reasons for that could be that opponents have had every chance to look at his technique, which wouldn't have been the case early on.

Silverwood said that he wouldn't change the side despite 2 down. Either he's been on the Christmas tiple or he needs serious help as does the England captain.

They were discussing spin bowling on the sky sports podcast and Rob Key said the best spinner he’s seen in county cricket is Dan Moriarty.

£100 says England will loose the next Test. I'd be happy to lose my money, but short of dumping at least 7 of the current 11, no chance.

Virdi must also be in the reckoning.
I'll be watching (mostly on tape) all of it and enjoying the game win, lose or draw.
Merry Christmas everybody.

Re: The Ashes 2021/22
Virdi's issue is that he still serves up some proper dross in every over. Still not the bowler we saw run riot in 2018
Rory and Ollie taken out of the firing line, and rightly so. Still can't see anything other than getting hammered though.

An England Test with no Surrey men. When did that last happen?

Re: The Ashes 2021/22
We have a test team that is struggling to achieve mediocrity. The blame lies with successive governments whose education cuts mean state schools can no longer afford to offer cricket and the ECB for their contemptuous treatment of the county championship.

The shot Butler played off Lyon the over before tea just about sums up the sorry state of English Cricket: BRAINLESS.

Well I think that opening spell would have tested the best opening batsman. Unfortunately England have none. Root was lucky to survive the hat trick. It could be an innings defeat here. Anderson still our "best" bowler.

Not sure what he’s up to at the moment but England need to track down Graham Ford and throw as much money at him as it takes.

Could this unmitigated disaster be the start of a complete restructure of the English game?
If I were Anderson I'd retire now in absolute disgust at this pathetic excuse for a team.
