Covers coming off at last to much time wasted nothing happening

This is only on Sky, not on YouTube.
Well, Roland-Jones would have bowled too, and the Sky pundits say they’d have bowled too, including Atherton, so I’m not sure I agree?

What’s the General opinion on Surrey preparing Green Top wickets.Used to be massively critical of Somerset on their preparations of Wickets at Taunton.Having to eat Humble Pie now.

Re: Middlesex at the Oval
It's hard to criticise the type of pitches we have prepared. While the pitches have suited our attack, they have certainly not been the sort of unsuitable cricket wickets Somerset were belatedly punished for. Our batsmen have regularly made 300-plus on them.
As for inserting, there was nothing wrong with the decision given weather conditions and a strong attack. Atkinson apart, our bowlers have had an off-day while Robson and Malan played exceptionally well.

As per my previous comment, they tend to fall like a pack of cards.

One of the downsides of having Sky there is that the game is stopped for two minutes while a perfectly clean catch is disputed and pored over.

Somerset have prepared Green Tops and Bare Dusty wickets. It’s very strange seeing a Oval wicket similar to the outfield. A word of caution Middlesex have a attack very capable of causing lots of trouble on that surface.

And the ball is moving around a bit. It definitely won't be easy batting against their attack. We could certainly have done with Ollie Pope here. Perhaps Straussy had some influence on that decision in order to help his old county ;-)

The reason they collapsed is because I had to leave just after 50 overs bowled...... Ain't it always just so?

Really wish that could have been referred because he'd gloved it, but then he immediately nicks off the next ball
An excellent bowling effort after the morning session - feel for Abbott who went away with nothing!

Re: Middlesex at the Oval
For some to suggest Patel had a good season last year or that he has been unlucky to miss games is quite bizarre.
In his first 4 innings last season he scored two 50's and a century (102)...that century on 24 April 22 was his last. In the subsequent 20 innings he has scored ONE 50. For a top 3 batsman that is very poor and compares badly to anyone who was considered to have really had a good season with the bat in 22.
He has also batted in 4 innings this season for 50 runs, an average of 12.5 and top score 27

Yes his season tailed off.. yes his average wasn't great by usual standards. But that has to be put in the context of opening the batting in England in April May and September. Opening has got harder and harder in this country. Very few openers have done well in the last few years. He was showing signs of form as the season ended too.
I'm not saying he should be picked without question but I did say he seemed to have found his place batting in the top 3 after years of being moved around. My main point is that him at 3 and Pope at 4 would get more out of both of them..

"tailed off"!!
He "tailed off" after 4 innings....24 F-class innings and 1 fifty is one hell of a tail off!

Middlesex batting is as poor as everyone seems to say it is. Only Robson and Malan scored any runs, and largely because we didn't bowl very well first session and a bit.
Not a great fan of Patel, I'd rather see Geddes in the side.

15 off 19 for Burns!? I didn’t see the end of the day - bad bowling or good batting? (Don’t mention the B word!)

Important tomorrow one of the openers get in and Bat for a long time and build partnerships if not 209 maybe a workable total Middx.

Looking at the forecast tomorrow it's likely we'll lose more than half a day's play, but given how quickly Middlesex collapsed that may be no bad thing as it will ensure we are not sitting at home twiddling our thumbs on what promises to be a sunny Sunday.

Looking poor on 3 weather sites plus a train strike. Weekend looks fine at the moment!

After my game on Wednesday (University of Sussex vs Oxford University) went ahead with no rain at all despite the forecast I wouldn’t trust anything we read on the forecast!
(Low-scoring thriller, if anyone cares: https://uoscc.play-cricket.com/website/results/5862814)

Thanks! Unquestionably PCS Pro is the best laptop-based product out there these days, it’s much better than TCS.Cee Gee wrote:RB wrote:After my game on Wednesday (University of Sussex vs Oxford University) went ahead with no rain at all despite the forecast I wouldn’t trust anything we read on the forecast!

I'd settle for a low scoring thriller in this match. Just when I thought it was safe to come out from behind the sofa yesterday afternoon. I put it down to vertigo.
