In one and a half days, we have made Kent look like the 1948 Aussies. Absolutely woeful

It's always the same when people say well "we will soon see off Kent and Northants". Fatal.

Pope Foakes and Jack's dreadful.
I get what you’re saying, but the balls were dreadful and deserved to be smacked to the boundary.

Sean Abbott is a seriously excellent cricketer; hope we can see more of him over the years in Surrey colours

Lovely to see our own tail wag, excellent from Atkinson at other end with some lovely shots

Very handy runs at the end. If we can take a couple of wickets before the close then we'd be back in control.

Ollie Pope
Fantastic Batsman but you cannot keep moving about in the crease and consistently make Runs at the Highest Level he is not doing himself Justice especially batting at no 3 for he’s
country Bazball or no Bazball.

Some unbelievable batting from both sets of tail Enders, not much from the top orders. We must not let them get away from us in the 2nd dig.

Re: Kent at the Oval
While Pope and Foakes didn't deliver as I'd expected, the team as a whole is on course to do so. Our tail wagged as furiously as Kent's had done. Abbott is arguably worth his place as a batsman alone, or at least he would be in most other first division batting line-ups.
All of our bowlers have contributed again in this match, but one man just seems break through whenever we seem to be struggling to get wickets. Tom Lawes opens doors.
The only slight personal frustration is that I now doubt we'll get a fourth day. Don't get me wrong, I love Surrey winning decisively, but we've had so little cricket in nice weather and as I will be away for the Lancashire match in June, it will be a long time until I get to see any more championship, so I was looking forward to two days of sunny weekend cricket. Ah well, I guess we're just too bloody good.

Well unless their tail wags again which is unlikely, this could well finish by tea tomorrow.
Atkinson, Abbot and even Frankie Boy played probably the best shots of the match. This wasn't stupid, Bazeball, it was fine cricket hitting.

I wonder if Foakes opening this season was ever discussed

Re: Kent at the Oval
Why would we need Foakes to open when we have Burns and Sibley? To carry out an experiment on England's behalf? Not bloody likely. And as far as it being an option for him to keep his England place is concerned, it is grossly unrealistic to expect your wicket-keeper to bat in the top four, let alone to open.

This side is now on par with Holioakes great side. We are steamrolling everybody and it's great to see. I'd lay my money now on another Championship victory. Lawes is a great talent and a genuine all rounder in the making.

Suffice to say that was an absolute hammering. Fantastic win but particular credit to the lower order batting and bowlers for that; collectively the bowling unit are stepping up even when one or two of them have an off day
