Hardly curious. People who don't live in London have to pay it to cross weasel Khan's enforced M25 border to earn a living. It a tax on those who can least afford it. Even if you believe a non compliment car is a polluter, you can still use it but it'll cost you £12.50 to leave your house. Orwell had the right idea, but he was 40 years too early. Pull down the cameras! Oh they are as we speak, 90% are out of action in South London and now they are saying the signage where it even exists isn't lawful. It's an ill thought out flop.

Sorry to be off topic but
Maybe they should give their millions to Sadie Khan to bail out TFL instead of ripping off motorists?
Actually it could be better used to clean up all the toxicity on the London Underground.
Clean air and wholesome cricket are natural bedfellows, Mr Eh.[/quote
Couldn't agree more, except ULEZ has nothing to do with clean air.
You can argue that there are ulterior motives or that there are better ways of getting to clean air. But to claim that ULEZ is nothing at all to do with clean air seems to be losing the plot.
ULEZ of course is relevant to cricket as you won't be able to drive to The Oval in a non-exempt car without paying the charge. Shocking.
Oh, hang on a moment, you haven't been able to do that for years.
It is curious how this ULEZ extension is the focus of so much anger compared to the original LEZ and the extension of ULEZ out to the NCR and the South Circular Goat Path).
"Clean air" is the pretext. If it were the genuine reason he would simply ban non-compliant vehicles from entering his fiefdom, rather than allow those who can least afford it to continue to do so as long as they pay him £12.50 a day in order to be able to earn a living. What a socialist hero!
The original ULEZ and extension impacted a fraction of the people that this vindictive London-wide extension will, and a far higher proportion of those living in outer London drive and rely on their vehicles.

I think the point is it's a huge payday for the players and they're never going to slag it off for this reason. I read somewhere Tom Lawes was paid more for the Hundred (£40k) than any woman in the competition.

I have a suggestion to make: why not make a new post called ULEZ, so you and fellow critics can rant amongst yourselves instead of cluttering this cricket site with your drivel??SimonH wrote:Chinaman wrote:Hardly curious. Chinaman, please stop using this site as a political platform, it is for Surrey cricket topics not politics and you risk causing division and damaging the site by these posts. I have been using this excellent site for many years and would hate to see that. When you post on cricket you often make excellent points, please stick to that.

I don't. But cricket happens to cross into other areas of discussion sometimes. If there is little cricket news I don't really see a problem. But point taken if it upsets people.

Not cluttering and it's hardly drivel. If you don't like it don't read it.
But point taken. I can't vouch for others though.

Re: Sam Curran: English cricket needs to accept the H*****d
If the club would stick to cricket and avoid promoting tenuous links with everything from Rainbow Laces/Pride matches to Black History Month it would be easier for those of us on the other side of the "culture wars" to keep our side of the bargain and just enjoy the bloody cricket!
