Re: Warwickshire the Oval
I get the logic that with the way pitches and balls have played this year you could end up with some seriously long sessions in the field when the ball has gone soft so you dont want to leave yourself short of bowlers. I think it also reflects that the management have a lack of confidence in Jacks to bowl long spells consistently and keep things tight.
However Patel has shown in the last few games that he is capable of bowling in those periods with accuracy and keeping it v tight. So really think we could either play another batsman (the deeper you bat the more able you are to take advantage of those periods where the ball has gone soft) or a bowler with a point of difference (Virdi/Moriarty).

Re: Warwickshire the Oval
Who is doing the slip coaching? Sibley dropped twice in 10 minutes, absolute dolly from Patel...

Maybe they should learn to master the art, they might get a game

Usually mid-on is the ideal place for Amla. Not when Sibley is batting: he has taken several singles that a more fleet-footed fielder would have prevented.

How many times is Sibley going to play and miss
Suffice to say dropping him twice hasn't helped...

Re: Warwickshire the Oval
Preys average bowling performance today, particularly annoyed the way we wasted the 2nd new ball. Also Roach seems a lot less sharp than previously, hardly taken a wicket since he returned. Lawes again impressed. How we missed Worrall!

I should be there tomorrow. Hope to see us polish off the last two wickets, then bat big and secure a significant first innings lead. Good to see McKerr chip in with 3 wickets when he wasn't even supposed to be playing. That looks like the sort of contribution you get during a Championship winning campaign.

I was there Roach and Clark banged the ball in short of a length. Jamie Overton pitched it uip more as did Lawes and McKerr, Good from the juniors not so much from the seniors.
Sibley was excruciating watching (helped by two dropped catches) with the Warwickshire scoring rate not going over 2 until about te 60th Over but he has taken time out of the game which may impact on whether Surrey can get a result

Agreed. Well I'm sure I'll be sleeping through many innings by "the corpse" next year. He's got three shots and one of them is an edge that avoids fielders. I suppose he does a sort of job but Jesus why did we sign him. Mind you I think he's "Sibled" the rest of the team. The run rate dropped further after he was out! This lot are a boring as Middlesex and that's saying something. A bore of a day after recent games. Bound to hapen, but we should have batted first. I'm sure we would have got a lot more than 240.

Re: Warwickshire the Oval
I thought it was the right decision to bowl, given the rather cloudy conditions, our seam attack and the fact we have won our last two batting last. I wonder whether Worrall pulled out after the toss, though. The announcer said just one change to the previous match - Clark for Steel. McKerr was not even at the ground..
We bowled ok but Roach wasn't at full throttle, Clark looked a little rusty and McKerr was, initially, expensive. The slip fielding was poor - even Pope's catch was nearly spilled.
We need to get those last two wickets quickly tomorrow and rattle up 350 plus by the close.

Re: Warwickshire the Oval
It was pretty dull to watch on stream, particularly that second session, but they did OK to keep the scoring down until Clark and McKerr served up some dross. In hindsight I will give them the benefit of the doubt as one hasn't played for a month after a side strain (which the club didn't really communicate) and the other getting called over after Worrall had done his shoulder in. Jacks was economical but it's nothing to write home about. Taking that catch would have been handy, albeit bloody hard at the speed it was heading towards him
For the love of God I hope they get the two in the morning quickly.

And that, in a nutshell, is the case for Sibley.
