To be fair Lancashire have been the better team for most of this match apart from when Abbott and Worrall were there in the first innings. We have some reasonable looking fixtures coming up in July while some of the teams below us play against one another so hopefully we will still have a decent points lead going into the August break.

Lancashire are a fine side who could still be big players in this season CC title.

I don't get this "disgrace" thing. Just class bowling in helpful conditions, more helpful than at any other stage of the match. OK, it was s bit too close for Jacks to leave but apart from Clark (who could hardly be blamed) nobody gave it away.

To be fair, I'm well used to batting collapses...

A pathetic performance from Surrey
A wake up call.
Burns really needs look at himself as captain putting Lancashire in on Sunday and his own form is dreadful.
We got away with a great win at Canterbury but this was shambolic performance.

abysmal performance, i'd prefer Ryan Patel to Latham as well.

Agreed. Although it's still not good to be dismissed for under 100 in any conditions. But unlike the first innings, most of them were out to good deliveries. Maybe not a good idea putting them in given the forecast at the time ?

First Innings last wicket partnership failed to gloss over a performance where we were 2nd best in all departments including dropped catches.

And I thought the ball that got Jacks was a really good delivery. It came back a very long way.

I’m sure others were consulted before inserting Lancs. So the blame should not be just on his shoulders. It was I’m sure a collective decision, but however it was clearly wrong,as many of us said on the first day!!

i think complacency has a lot to do with it. Also certain players not getting a look in also has upset the squad a tad IMHO. This applies to the T20 also. Something has changed

Oh here we go, we lose a game of cricket where we have been outplayed by what many people thought would be serious challengers for the title this year, and all of a sudden we are shit.

It happens, the other team are allowed to play well

I would still rather be in our position that we are in, ie top, than chasing the leaders

That 2nd innings was our bad day for the season. The players need to learn from it and move on.

Could turn out to be a blessing in disguise giving us a kick up the arse. Bat first next time if we win the toss and give Virdi a game a specialist spinner.

When you're top 5 only score 116 between them in the match then you don't really deserve to win. When that top 5 contains 4 players with Test caps and 1 who is very much on Englands radar as a future test match player then it really is embarrassing.

Let this be the low point for the season and go again.

thats impressive considering 1 of the top 5 is a New Zealander

Right, I'm just back from my fortnight around Europe, and while I was initially sorry that I would be missing this game I now feel I dodged a bullet.

I can accept that we had an off-day today, and that we were generally below par in the match. I also accept that Lancashire are a very good side (our biggest rivals, along with Essex - certainly both of them are ahead of Warwickshire and Hampshire). But this nonsense of routinely putting the other side in needs to stop now.

Onwards and upwards - a busy July with some vital (and winnable) Championship matches. Rory: if you win the toss, bat. If you are in doubt, think about it, then bat. If you have very big doubts, consult your colleagues, and then bat.

The critical mistake was putting Lancs in, other mistakes followed and we dropped catches as it seems we usually do at the moment. The ball was moving around this morning, so small blame to those who got out today, had we wrapped up their innings reasonably quickly yesterday instead of letting the nightwatchman bat on and on and on there would have been no problem. Lancs bowled well so give them credit, Williams and Bailey were brilliant. Our batting looks nowhere near as solid without Pope.

Not really sure why we've signed Latham. He looks well below par. Surely we should play Geddes. Burns is in awful form and probably should drop himself for Patel. Glad I didn't go this morning.

It was a good ball which came in quite a bit off the seam but I thought it was a poor decision for Jacks to leave the ball - especially as he'd survived an earlier LBW appeal against a ball from the same bowler which had also come in a lot.

To add to a day of abject misery, Ollie look as though he has put his shoulder out(again), playing for England
