Don't give those buggers any credit please. Neither Pope or Foakes are centrally contracted so they had no say in the matter, and didn't need releasing from anything.

Isn't it bazaar in the day of such an exciting finish they release their
crap review recommending a red ball reduction.

Pope is on a central contract and Foakes likely qualifies on an incremental basis given all his appearances this summer. Don’t underestimate it, they could have pulled them out.

Don't think they dared having taken Jacks and Topley away from us as well as Sam.

A hell of an achievement for Surrey to win the CC with so many players missing playing for England. Much more difficult for us than other counties like Essex or Hants with virtually no call ups. Congrats to Lee Fortis for preparing another good cricket wicket.

What a fantastic achievement. Huge congratulations to Gareth Batty who has needed to manage a large squad this season and a huge congratulations to that squad from which everyone has made telling contributions when called upon. I really did not expect us to make such progress after some pretty disappointing seasons. Was concerned that all momentum could have been lost with such a gap between the middle and end of the season so am delighted we have managed to secure the title with a game to go. Well done to all!

It's been a long day and I've just got back from the awards...but what an, achievement. 22 players featured this year, and it was a real squad effort.

He forgot to say congrats.

according to Batty, both Pope and Foakes were prepared to play at Northants last week had the Test match finished in time

I was at the Oval on the Monday for the end of the Test & then drove up to Northants to catch the last two sessions of the day there. As the Test finished, I joked to a mate that I should offer Foakes & Pope a lift up to Northants.......

Just dropping in quickly to say that Surrey were worthy winners, not least because of the squad depth required. When it was needed, someone - quite possibly not the expected someone - stepped up. That's probably a characteristic of most championship winning teams, unless they are so superior that they don't need it.

I couldn't believe Hampshire's first innings when I saw the score. I thought I must have been lying in the sun too long in Port de Pollensa (a difficult job but someone has to do it).

I still find it odd that a specialist spinner coach should sideline both his specialist spinners but it worked, what more can you say?

Hoping to play you in the CC next year, assuming that the waltzing one doesn't get his way for 2023. Still tight though.

A friend at Chelmsford tells me  Jason Roy was there sitting on the Essex team balcony. He presented Snater (his relation) with his county cap.

Shame Snater gets his cap after the dodgeist wicket on the circuit game. Trouble with Chelmsford is it's such a small square the wickets are used over and over. But either way a 4 day game that in terms of overs was just 4 sessions is not on. I wonder if a side that was 7/6 has ever won a game before? Snater is a good player though.

This video confirms Roy was there although it looks like Essex captain Tom Westley presented Snater with his cap (as would be appropriate).

One big factor in our success is the much better fitness record ,apart from Currans. I think something must have changed in the fitness regime this season to produce this improvement .

Hope the club get some champions merchandise out quickly. It makes a lovely Xmas present for people who follow other counties
