Overseas for the last 3
I wonder who we will get as the 2 overseas players for the last 3 CC games. Roach maybe then a batsman?
What do you guys think?

I think non-World Cup overseas batters are hard to come by. With no Will Jacks I’d try and get Sean Williams but it’s a long shot.

Ryan Patel and Ben Geddes ought to get a go.

If we can't get Roach let's stick with what we've got FFS,it's getting silly. It's like the magic fucking roundabout.

You lot were praising Abbott and Roach earlier in the season and now moaning about getting overseas players for the last 3 CC games. Hypocrites unbelievable. To make sure we win the title we need 2 good overseas players to get us over the line. Some of you lot think you know your cricket but in fact know f**k all.

I've said before that if we can't get Abbott or Roach i think we should leave it.I'm fed up with us signing players to play in 1/2 or 3 matches, that's all.I don't know as much about it as you do because i've only been watching Cricket since 1963.
My apologies for my earlier comments. So many things about Cricket are getting on my nerves in recent times, especially at The Oval that i'm getting even more irritable than normal.

No problem badges I apologise for my bad language towards
you. Unfortunately with all the crap franchise cricket being
played overseas players are mainly only available for a few
games at a time.

Some of us lot "that think we know our cricket" are not against overseas players per se - hence we praise the likes of Abbott and Roach. We are against the quantity of overseas players and that they are being used for very short periods of time - ie with no real attachment to the club. This is not franchise cricket (yet).

What does ‘no real attachment to the club’ mean?
Arron Hardie came in last season (I think) and played one CC match. He gave an interview afterwards and was clearly delighted with his stay and short experience with Surrey. Does he have a real attachment to the club or is that for you decide? What’s the criteria?

Re: Overseas for the last 3
I have no problem with signing our quota of overseas players if they are likely to be better than what we have, even just for two or three games. We have to do what we can to negate the handicap under which the ECB places us for so much of the season, taking many of our players away for the Hundred and now for England.
Both Patel.and Geddes did reasonably well across the 50-over tournament. They have also made runs in the seconds this year. But that does not mean they are necessarly more likely to make crucial runs for us against Warwickshire or Hampshire's attack in September than an overseas batsman if we can get one good enough. There may in any case be room for one of them plus an overseas depending on the extent of injuries to Burns and Foakes.
Bowling is a no-brainer. With Atkinson, Sam Curran and Jacks tied up with England for some or all of our remaining matches, injury concerns about Clark and Overton as fragile as a china plate, we would be negligent not to bring someone in if we can.

He'd have said exactly the same thing whoever he'd played for.

Re: Overseas for the last 3
It seems as though we will need a replacement for Abbott for the 3 remaining championship matches, especially with Atkinson & Jacks missing from those that have played this season already, and possible replacements of Topley and Sam Curran also not available. With Clark possibly injured that does leave the bowling a little short, so I would hope that Roach has been approached and will be back.
The batting is dependant on whether Burns and Foakes are injured and whether reinforcements are required to cover them.
Looking at the last side against Somerset, Latham, Jacks and Atkinson will not be available, and there are doubts on Burns, Foakes and Clark
if all is well, then the XI for Warwickshire game could be
Burns, Sibley, Patel, Smith, Foakes, Steel, Clark, Overton, Lawes, Roach and Worrall
If Burns and/or Foakes arent available then Geddes gets in, with Smith taking the gloves if no Foakes. If Clark is unfit or Roach isnt back then the obvious replacement will be Moriarty, or there may even be a call up for Tom Curran or Mckerr
Crucial part of the season coming up, and with members of the squad from the start of the season not available, its important that the club get the right reinforcements in

We could also prepare a wicket with spin in mind and play Moriarty.

Zimbabwean Test player. Former captain too, I think. Averages 45 in First Class cricket and bowls slow left arm at an average of 36.

Looks from Twitter like we’ll get an overseas player announcement at midday. Hopefully they’ve cleared it all with Vic first.
