Re: Somerset at the Oval
A strange day. We probably have our noses in front thanks to the middle session, but there were times when our bowling and fielding weren't good enough. The run-out - a smart bit of thinking by Clark after his initial fumble - was absolutely crucial. It seemed to impact on Lammonby's concentration and the middle-order went down like a set of pins other than Gregory who batted sensibly with the tail.
Burns and Sibley have set a foundation for Pope, Lawrence and Smith to make hay. With a good forecast tomorrow before the weather turns, we should be aiming for 450 and a healthy lead by this time tomorrow.

Fought back well after dreadful pre -lunch session. Annoying last wicket stand, though!!! Would have settled for this score when they were 196/2. Not impressed with either Overton or Roach, but Atkinson certainly bowled much better in the second session. We have liked to have seen Lawes in this side ,always seems to get wickets when others fail.

Bashir held us up at Taunton last season in a last wicket stand with Craig Overton. He showed a lot of bottle.

I can tell you what was hideous and completely unprofessional…. Smith was wearing cricket pads when ran in to drop an easy catch from Gregory. There is no way that a captain should ever let a player field on the boundary wearing pads. He was just too bloody idle to take them off. It cost us dearly.

I'm pleased to hear that Sir Winston got in yesterday on his App. And I gather there isn't a beer problem?

A minor grumble from me is that none of the children's "Pride of Lions" membership cards don't work (something wrong with the QR codes on both the physical card and the app), so we had to queue up at the ticket office to get my son a ticket for the day (but the steward & the lady in the ticket office were both very efficient).

Re: Somerset at the Oval
So it's a Saturday, glorious weather (better than yesterday), Surrey should be batting all day, and there are fewer people here than yesterday.
All those clamouring for more  weekend cricket....not while the football season is on (plus the Grand National!).I would like a tenner for every person I overheard yesterday making plans to go to a game today.

Noticed the bloke on the boundary who just dropped Burns, had those silly little pads on under his whites.
And the he vainly chased a ball that went to the boundary a few overs later. You'd think it'd be easier to run without them on

I was there yesterday but woke up feeling extremely rough this morning so stayed home.Hoping to be back for days 3 and 4.I'm watching on YouTube. It's none of my business what people do but it baffles me to see so many people who never seem to look up from their phones.

Block 4/5 is usually where I go, but pitch position and my terrible eyesight mean I'm in Gadalfi block 22.
Do they only have the scores on the scoreboard in the media centre on for white ball games, because I know for tests last year the overs bowled is a lot cleared above gate 8 in the JM Finn stand.
Ground does seem underprepared/pre season feel about it,where are the tarpaulins in the bars above Block 6 and 14 and the Accessibility Area in Block 24?

I wish the scoreboards would find somewhere to show bowlers figures for the bowler currently bowling

I understand Smith ahead of Lawrence, but not Foakes. Did he sign up to bat 6?

Slightly disappointed we haven’t kicked on with the scoring rate.

Re: Somerset at the Oval
Indeed: with the possibility that half of Monday may be lost to weather we really needed to try to get to 400+ today. Jamie Overton may be our last hope of doing so, and I would have promoted him above Steel.and Clark.
