Perhaps Hardie will extend that contract to play in Vitality finals/County Championship if not selected for Australia? you'd imagine Hardie would hang around for the Hundred starting 23rd July-18th August (easy £100k), and then Australia are playing a white ball series in England (at same time as T20 Blast Finals).

No West Indies matches scheduled after 3rd Test @ Birmingham so Roach might be available for the last few county matches.

Great news so it looks like we still need another overseas for the first 4 CC matches?
Unless we dont bother and use our own resources.

yep, was a little bemused they’re all down for that game, especially as Hardies spell intentionally begins a game before t20. My guess, Roach sits with tests coming.

2/1 seems a good value.

Was there a reason given why Hardie or Abbott cannot join Surrey for the start of the season?

Seems odd starting dates if neither are playing in the IPL, I can't imagine there is much else going on in world cricket to coincide with the IPL?

We´ll be playing Lancashire with Nathan Lyon in their side, so I´m guessing there's no Aussie domestic stuff going on at same time as IPL.

Hopefully Stewie has a plan B up his sleeve. We still only have one overseas for the first few CC games in Roach.

No analysis just looking when they were announced his signing what matches he might be available for.

I don't think it's any great loss, he was basically only coming for the T20 matches.

Does seem wierd the number of Aussies in county cricket and we sign one of the youngest and he needs to rest!

IMO we need to sign up a batsman now (Tom Latham?) to come in and play the whole season, white and red ball. Hate having players for 2 or 3 games we need a Hashim Amla type rock at the top of our batting to stabilise us all season.

My apologies BUT what  on earth is an   Anything But Cricket Thread doing on a Cricket/Surrey CCC forum in the first place?

If these people  want to discuss all this other stuff why not form a WhatsApp group or whatever it's called.Also,i've only posted in that thread while the other bloke has mucked up two bona fide Cricket threads as well as hurling personal insults.

If you look at our squad, on paper we have an excellent batting unit, improved by Dan Lawrences signing, but the reality is we had some nightmare first innings collapses last summer, how many times did we creep past 250 on the back of runs from Overton, Lawes or Abbott, our opening match v Lancs our number 7 Cameron Steel scored 141 coming in at 164-5.

IMO we need a top class batting signing.

He might be a marmite/Vegimite love/hate figure but I see that David Warner just missed out of the Hundred draft today, could he come in, and not being involved in the Hundred actually play in the MetroBank 50 Over comp for Surrey? If he signed in June post IPL, he could come as Roachs contract was ending and be available in September for both the Vitality later stages and Metro Bank final.
