But Daryl Mitchell is playing in IPL and T20 World Cup so would be unavailable for the majority of the season.

He fits the bill nicely then for a Surrey player.

Still no news. I am sure Stewie has a couple of aces up his sleeve. He is probably waiting to see who is available with all the T20 stuff that is going on April/May.

If Lawrence and Foakes are going to be part of the England set up this summer, that advances the case of Tom Latham to bolster our batting and he is experienced cover as keeper too. Could be good for Smith & Blake to have another international keeper to play alongside/train with if Foakes will be missing with England.

Latham could also deputise as white ball captain too if both Lawrence and Jordan are missing.

Latham would be good. I am sure we will hear some news soon.

He'll have to excel to improve on last years overseas signings, hopefully a few familiar faces will be back.

I wonder if Stewie will go for Shamar Joseph as an overseas option or is he playing IPL?

Imagine going upto Old Trafford opening up with Kemar Roach and Shamar Joseph!

I think they could be available for first 5 county matches before the West Indies series starts, then post-IPL availability of Internationals opens up.

Kemar Roach has been available for us whenever he's not injured and the West Indies test team aren't playing - despite the "short term" nature of that announcement his commitment to Surrey is unquestionable.

Latham opening for NZ made 20 against the SA unknowns.Abbot and Hardie playing ODIs for the Aussies and performing very well.

Sean Abbott top scored with 69,took 3/40 off 10 overs and held 2 catches.

Aaron Hardie in from May for 3 County Championship matches and Blast group stages,

Not going to lie, I'd have loved Abbott back, but he was excellent in that game up at Scarborough when he was with us

He misses the first 6 CC Games will Surrey bring someone in for those matches?

Abbott will be playing IPL and the T20 World Cup for Australia so hopefully he will come over after those competitions.

Wouldn’t say he ‘misses them’, he’s signed up for t20 and doing the CC whilst he’s here. Wil almost certainly sign someone for first 6 games based on previous record.

Surely if Abbott has missed out on the IPL he's available for those first 5 Championship games and first few Vitality games before the T20 World Cup starts?

Hardie is effectively replacement for Narine in the white ball squad, but it does seem weird we'll either be without or need to sign another overseas player for the knock out stages of the Vitality T20 (when Ton Curran, Chris Jordan and Jason Roy will all be missing)

Last season seemed quite ramshackle signing so many overseas players on short term stints, and this season likely to be the same.

Agree, but in Hardies case i'd expect him to sign on a longer contract, Surrey should be demanding overseas players prioritise Surrey, can't repeat the Narine situation last season (missing the final to play elsewhere)
