Blimey, that is a blow to them. If they had to choose, I'm sure they would rather have had him for the last half of the season and not the first. While I'm pleased that the team I've tipped as our biggest threat has been hit with this, a part of me is sad that one of the best spinners in the world won't be allowed to play an entire season in county cricket.

More Bowling for Hartley. The 100 has completely done for spin Bowlers they don’t get to Bowl in Dry Dusty conditions no more with August removed from the 4 Day CC calendar.

True, but I do understand CA's perspective, as they have a big winter with India touring for a 5-test series and that will require their full attention.

Very Rare these days for a Overseas Cricketer playing International matches to play a full English Season.

The county season finishes end of Sept. The Australia v India series starts mid November he has plenty of time to rest. Just another case of an international body treating a county like crap.

That's my point. The balance between counties (or the equivalents, eg state sides in Australia) and international teams needs to be redressed. I understand that when test matches are taking place they need to have first call on centrally-contracted players, but not to allow them to play any competitive county cricket for four months before those matches start is ridiculous. Six weeks rest is surely plenty, especially for a spinner.

....and last seasons Indian signing Sai Sudharsan, after 5 games in the IPL is a second place in top run scorers, only Virat Kohli has scored more runs - 191 runs IPL batting stats - scoring so far - 45, 37, 45, 33, 31 - so fairly consistant

If Worrall was 100% fit you'd probably be questioning Roachs place in the side.

Not sure with our England players available we can sign much better, especially if Burns and Sibley look to both started the season on form.

Question is if we lose Pope, Lawrence and Foakes that eats up a big chunk of our top order

Agreed on every point. We don't need a batsman at the moment but if we lose Pope and Foakes then things look rather different. (By the way, I can't see how Lawrence is going to force his way into the England team this year, especially if we are going to bat him at 6 and he then gets dodgy LBW decisions going against him!)

We already have far too many players - it's ridiculous.

Not impressed with Roach this season,seems to have lost that yard of pace which made him so dangerous.

I did warn that there was a real risk that it was a season too far for the nearly 36-year-old.

I think that you should take over from Alec Stewart Jackers.

He performed quite for the WI in the Winter

Suppose the main problem is there isn't anyone available that will walk into the Surrey side and improve it dramatically. I do think we're expecting a hell of a lot from Lawrence so depending on how highly we rate Patel and Geddes, you'd imagine an experienced batsman would be good.
Likewise we must rate Blake and/or Smith to cover when Foakes is unavailable playing for England

You can only play eleven.We already have far too many players.Local lads are not getting games.
